•Mikki's POV•

For the next week after spending the night at Keaton's and getting to know Wesley better, everything was back to normal. Sort of...

I mean.. Wes still did try to rape me when he was drunk..but no one else even knows about it. So I don't even know why I'm still thinking about it.

Currently I'm sitting on my bed on a rainy Sunday night trying to find random facts about Blue Footed Booby birds. Stupid science homework..

"Mikki! Come quick!" Mom calls up the stairs.

"What's up, mom?" I reply, scrambling out of my bed and down the stairs. When I reached the bottom I see my mother standing at the window looking out to our front yard.

"Your...It's....Mikki..." She doesn't even turn her gaze from the window as she stutters. "..l-l-look.." Her voice is shaky and I can tell she's on the edge of tears. I quickly walk up beside her and look out the window. There's a black-pick up truck in our driveway...a black pick-up truck...my dad's black pick-up truck...my dad who's been gone in the army for four whole years. A man steps out of the car and into the rain.

"DADDY!" I scream before running out into the storm.

"Baby!" He yells as I jump into his arms. We're both getting completely drenched but I could't care less and neither could he. He spins me around a couple times before setting me down and holding either side of my face. "oh my gosh." He says looking at me. "We did good, Elle." He says to my mom before running to embrace her as well. My father hasn't seen me since I was 12 years old. I guess he was a little shocked at how someone can change in four years.

We finally get inside and out of the rain after about 10 more minutes of embracing each other.

"Mikki.." My father finally says once we've all changed into dry clothes. "You're beautiful, dear." He finishes as tears start to form in his eyes.

"Aw daddy!" I crawl onto his lap, just like I used to. "I think you're beautiful too." I smile a smug little smile at him.

"Way to ruin the moment!" He laughs before tickling me to death. I am hopelessly, hopelessly ticklish.

"AHHHHH!" I scream between laughter. "DAD STOP! DAAAAAD!" He finally stops and I'm left there lying on the floor trying to recover from the traumatizing experience.

"As you can see she still has your humor." My mom laughs.

"Not sure if that's such a good thing." He laughs along.

"So Mikki," my mom begins, "I was thinking that maybe we could have Keaton over for dinner tomorrow." She smiles at me. Oh no, here comes the protective side of my dad who always told me I could date until I was 30. Hopefully, and I repeat, hopefully he was joking. Hah..

"Keaton?" My dad shifts his eyes back and forth between me and my mom. Before I can even reply, my mom butts in.

"Keaton is Mikki's boyfriend, honey!" She says grinning widely. My mom really likes Keaton. She's convinced we're gonna get married and give her 10 lovely grandchildren. okay, mom. okay.

"Boyfriend.." My father breathes, more to himself than to either of us. He looks up at me. "You have a boyfriend?" I nod. "How long?"

"Seven months." I say cautiously. His eyes grow wide.

"Seven?" I nod once again. "Honey, did you ever have the talk with her?" He directed his attention to my mom.

"Dad!" I yelp.

"Have you and him, like..."

"DAD!" This time I full on yell.

"okay okay I'm sorry!" He says looking down at his feet. "There's just a lot you miss when you're gone for four years." I finally stand up off the floor and flop onto the couch.

"We understand, honey." My mom says trying to contain her laughs, but failing miserably.

"How old is he?"

"16."

"Does he have good grades?"

"Yes."

"What's his last name?"

"What? Are you gonna stalk him on Facebook?" I laugh

"Does he treat you well?" He finishes, completely ignoring my previous comment.

"Yes, daddy. He treats me very well." I say crawling over to him and kissing him on the cheek.

"He better.." He looks at me. "'Cause one wrong move and he's goin' downnnnnn!" I laugh.

"Okay, dad. Sure." I say standing up and stretching.

"It's 11:45pm kiddo, you should get to bed. You've still got school in the morning."

"Yes ma'am." I agree before hugging my mother goodnight and heading up the stairs. Already in my pajamas, I lay down in my soft bed and slowly drift off to sleep.

"We did good, Elle." I hear my dad's voice say. "We did good."

Then blackness.
