•Keaton's POV•

"I'm home!" I hear Mikki's mom call from the door. I quickly jog over to her.

"Hey, Mrs. Khristy!" I smile, "Can I help you?" I say, gesturing to the multiple bags she's carrying.

"Yes please, dear." She smiles as I grab three of them and follow her into the living room. "You can just set em over here." She says, pointing to the big red couch on the far side of the room.

I set the bags down carefully as she directed before turning around to face her.

"Keaton!" She exclaims. She wraps me in a hug. Yeah, Mikki's mom kinda loves me. Not really surprising considering who she has to compare to.

Joshua Cole.

Joshua was Mikki's first, I don't even know what he was. Barely a boyfriend if you ask me. He was the first guy Mikki starting getting serious with. But he was an idiot. He wanted her to do things she wasn't ready for. And when she wouldn't do it, I guess he got bored of waiting.

Anyways, Josh started being really verbally abusive. That's when me and Mikki started becoming really good friends. She needed someone to be there for her, and I wanted to be that someone. It wasn't too long before she caught Josh cheating on her.

Mikki never talks about him. And if she does, she'll only say that he didn't even qualify as a boyfriend. Same with her mom. I don't even know what her dad would do if he ever finds out.

"It's been so long since I've seen you!" She continues, releasing me from the hug.

"It has!" I agree. "Life keeps getting in the way, eh?"

"Yes, well we're gonna have to tell life to calm down so I can see you more." We laugh.

"Well summer is finally here. Who knows what could happen."
