The Other Half of Me

One Day

---- Melony's POV ----

February 27th, 2014:

Harry and I got invited to a wedding (last minute) and right now, I'm looking at myself in the dress I bought a week ago. It's a tight black, low cut, dress that's a little higher than my knees.

While I'm looking in the mirror, I see Harry come up to me from behind and hold my waist and rest his head on my shoulder. "You look beautiful babe" he says. I smile and blush. He then kisses my neck and whispers "I love you" "I love you too" I reply. "What time is it?" I ask "Ten o'clock. Wedding starts at twelve" "Shouldn't you get ready first?" "Yeah, but I had other thoughts we could do for a bit" he says and 0. winks. "I know where this is leading to" I turn around and he pulls me closer "I think I do too" And as we're about to lean in for a kiss, the phone rings. We sigh and answer the phone.

"Hello?" I say into the phone.

"Hi sweetie! It's mom!" She says.

"Hey mom! How are you?"

"I'm doing okay" She says quietly. And I know when my mom is upset. And she's upset.

"Mom ... What's wrong?!" I ask

"Nothing sweetie!"

"Mom"

"Melony"

"........."

"Okay! It's just, you know, tomorrow is going to be another year without dad and, and it's always hard for me"

"I know. It's hard for me too. And Drew!"

We stay quiet for a minute.

"Don't be sad okay?!" I say

"I know honey" she says and sniffles

"Mom! Don't cry!" And now I start to tear up.

"Don't look at it as another year without him! It's another year closer to him coming back!"

"I know baby! Go get ready for that wedding and I'll talk to you tomorrow"

"Kay, love you mom"

"I love you too. Bye"

"Bye!"

*** END OF PHONE CALL ***

I stand in the bedroom, arms crossed, head down, trying not to cry. Until Harry comes up from behind me, again, and hugs me. "Don't cry" he whispers. I wipe my eyes, turn around and say "I'm not crying" "We don't have to do anything tomorrow. We can just hang around and cuddle" "No, I'm not gonna mope around all day and be sad. I'm going to be with you and stay happy!" I say as he pulls me close into a kiss. "Okay ... So are we going to do that thing I wanted to do?" Teasing him, I get closer to him and lick my lips "No" "Oh yes we are!" He says. He then lifts me up and puts me on the bed as he hovers over top of me.

We arrived at the church, where the couple says all that "I do!" Stuff. Harry and I sit beside each other in the fifth row. By the way, the wedding is Drew's friends wedding. But Drew couldn't come, so I did! His friend and I were really close! We were pretty much brother and sister!

The music came on, which meant it was time for the bride to walk down the aisle.

♫ Dum dum da dum! Dum dum da dum! ♫ The bride, Victoria, had a beautiful dress! It was a sweetheart neckline ball gown with a sparkly belt! Victoria wasn't serious, so when she passed by me, we pretended to 'act cool' and high five each other. Harry didn't know anyone here, so I guess I'll have to introduce him to everyone. Well, I was the one invited, but I could bring someone, so, I brought Harry!

We took a seat and watched them do all that stuff they do at weddings. But Harry and I didn't even listen. We took a piece of paper and were doodling weird pictures. Harry drew a picture of, a terrible horse, and wrote "Moo! I'm a Lion!" See?! Makes no sense!

It's now the reception, and Harry and I are sitting at a table with one of mine and Drew's friends. Their names are Brad, Chris and Victor. Yeah. I'm the only girl. And, knowing the groom, Steven, he did this on purpose. We always do stupid stuff to make each other annoyed. But I don't mind! I'm with Harry!

"Excuse me everyone!" Victoria's father says on the mic "I would like to do the father daughter dance now if that's alright with you Mrs. Daughter of mine!" They clear the dance floor and dance to a song I don't know. During the entire dance, Harry and I were taking weird selfies and pictures of random people and the faces they were making! Oh god! It was hilarious!

After the father daughter dance, they played the song 'Rude by MAGIC' (One of my faves) and everyone starts to dance on the dance floor. One of my old friends had a baby recently (5 months ago) and it's a boy and his name is Joshua! He is the cutest baby in the world! I held Joshua in my arms and played with his small fingers. Making him laugh, I tickled at his tummy. Harry came up to me and also played with the baby "This is gonna be us one day, except we'll have our own baby" he says. I look at him and smile "Yeah" I whisper as I cradle the baby.
