Little Miss Payne (On Hiatus)

Chapter 2

I woke up to a bright light shining in my face. I slowly opened my eyes before realizing it was just the sun. I must have been so tired last night that I forgot to close my curtains. As I pulled back the covers and stepped out of bed I heard a familiar voice. Liam? I thought to myself quietly. The voice immediately went quiet as if it had heard me. I brushed it off as being something on TV and walked downstairs. Where was my mom and dad? I walked into the living room and stopped dead in my tracks and my jaw dropped.

“Liam?” I shook my head trying to make sure this was reality and I wasn’t still sleeping.

“Ashleigh!” Liam picked me up and spun me while laughing like a little kid. He set me down and I looked up to see the 4 faces of his bandmates. Holy crap One Direction was in my living room. I looked at each one and my eyes stopped on Harry. His green eyes are mesmerizing. I was brought from my trance when Liam hugged me again. I laughed and hugged him back. He introduced me to the rest of the boys and they all hugged me. When I hugged Harry, I didn’t want to let go but I couldn’t keep hugging him because I didn’t want to set Liam off.

“What are you doing here?!” I questioned, in complete and utter shock. I was so glad to see my brother again after not seeing him since Christmas and it was now July.

“We’re on a 2 month break. So guess what? We’re all going to hang out here for a day then the boys and I are taking you to a secret location!” He attempted to sound mysterious for the last part but gave up when everyone looked at him like he had 3 heads. It was quite amusing actually. I was excited to be spending the next 2 months with Liam and his bandmates but I was slightly nervous about what the ‘secret location’ was. Eh, I guess I’ll found out eventually.

“Sounds fun. So what are we doing now?” I asked looking between Liam and his bandmates.

“We are going to take you shopping to get clothes for the trip.” Louis said as Liam nodded, confirming Louis’ statement. I shook my head.

“Liam, I have clothes, why do I need anymore?” Of course, it usually is cold in England and I don’t really have many summer clothes. But I figured I’d just go along with it so my brother would be happy.

“Well, you can never have too many clothes.” Zayn smiled while looking at me. I agreed just as Liam told me to jump on his back and he carried me out to the front of the house. “Li-Liam,” I said through laughing fits, “I have legs you know!”

“I know. But I remembered how you used to love it when I carried you like that when you were younger.” I smiled at this and tightened my arms around him, attempting to hug him. He understood what I was doing and he smiled bigger. We got in the van out front and Zayn drove. Louis was in the passenger seat, Niall and Harry were across from me, and Liam insisted that I sit next to him so we could catch up on things.

“So, how’s school been?” He looked at me, genuinely curious.

“Eh, how was school for you?” he smiled and nodded at me. I looked over to Niall and Harry. Niall was on his phone and Harry was looking at me. Once our eyes met, he quickly looked away. What’s up with him? Liam asked another question.

“So, are there any boys I should know about?” All the boys looked at me for this one, except for Zayn who was driving. Props to him for not getting distracted. I blushed for a minute as Liam watched, waiting for my answer.

“Nope, I’m still single as a pringle.” I smiled as everyone laughed, including Zayn.

“Good. You’re too young to date.” Liam poked me in the cheek.

“Oh yeah Liam? How old were you when you had your first girlfriend?” I looked at him, as well as everyone else.

“Hmm... Well it doesn’t matter. You’re my little sister. I worry about you Ash.” He smiled at me. I hugged him tightly and we continued talking.

After a while, we pulled up at the mall. I was excited to being going somewhere with my brother and his bandmates but I was nervous because I didn’t know where we were going or what kind of clothes I should get.

“Liam? Where are we going for this ‘secret location’?” I asked, putting air quotes around secret location.

“It wouldn’t be a secret if I told you now would it?” He pointed at me as we walked into the mall.

“Well true. But I don’t know what kind of clothes to get.” He scratched his head before responding.

“True. Hmm. Here’s a hint. Where we’re going is warm and has many beaches. Now no more hints!” He laughed. Hmm. Warm and with a beach? This vacation sounds exciting. The first store we went into was American Eagle. I immediately saw this really cute pair of denim shorts that had little slits in them. I grabbed them along with an orange tank top that I thought would go with it pretty well. I picked out a few more pairs of shorts and t-shirts before I decided to look at the swimsuits. Immediately after walking over to where they were being displayed, I found a really cute black and white one. Liam walked up to me and noticed the swimsuit.

“Umm. Ashleigh, don’t you think that swimsuit shows a little too much?” He looked at me, concerned. I looked back up at him and furrowed my brow. “Fine. You’re lucky you’re my sister Ashleigh.”

“Oh come on. You’d let Danielle get this swimsuit if she were looking at it!” I smirked at him. His cheeks immediately got red and he walked away in defeat. I picked out a few more swimsuits before walking up to the cashier. I paid for the clothes with the card Liam gave me. The lady looked at me when she saw that I signed with the last name ‘Payne’. I was relieved when she didn’t make a scene about it and handed me my bag.

After a few more shops, we decided it was time to head back. As we walked out of the mall, I heard someone yell. “Omg! It’s One Direction!” I looked behind me to see a crowd of girls chasing us.

“Where did they come from?” I yelled trying to be heard over the stampede of girls making their way towards us.

“See when a mommy and a daddy love each other-. “ Louis was cut off when Zayn smacked the back of his head.

“Shuddup Louis!” Zayn yelled while trying to run and laugh at the same time. We managed to sneak out of the mall and get in the van before they could catch us. Since we all dived in the van, Zayn was driving again, Louis was on the bottom of the pile, and then it was Niall, then Harry, then me, and finally Liam. As Liam climbed off of me and onto the seat, I pushed off of Harry’s back to get a boost up. I felt his muscles tense under his shirt and I have to admit. That boy has muscle.

We all finally managed to get up and sit back in our seats. We were all involved in separate conversations until we got back to the house. Niall helped me carry the bags in as Liam rounded everyone else up and brought them inside. Liam said I should go pack up my stuff since we would be leaving tomorrow and would be gone until the end of their break. He already reassured me that our parents knew, and approved of it since I don’t get to see him that often and we are really close. Plus, they knew how protective Liam was of me and they knew he wouldn’t let anything bad happen.

When I got upstairs, I put all of my toiletries in one of my smaller bags. I grabbed my bigger suitcase out of my closet and put all of the clothes Liam bought me today in. After throwing a few other articles of clothing and quadruple checking to make sure I had everything I would need, I went downstairs to the basement to find the boys playing Mario Cart on the Wii. It was Zayn and Louis versing Niall and Liam. Harry was just standing and watching. I took this as my chance to surprise Harry so I crept really quietly up behind him and jumped on his back, almost knocking him over.

“Whoa there tiger. Calm down.” Harry smirked at me as he set me back down on the ground. Liam looked at me and laughed. He laughs so much. It makes me so happy to see him enjoying himself. Of course I miss him when he’s gone but I’m so proud of how successful and happy he is and how happy the boys make him. He’s living his dream and I couldn’t ask for anything better for my big brother.
