I didn't realize how much we were walking, or where for that matter. All I did know was that I had my hand on his arm and a blush on my cheeks.
"Let's go to this one." Taehyung said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked up to see him opening the door to one of the many cafés in the shopping area.
"Okay, great!" I said a little too excitedly, mentally slapping myself as I walked through the door with Taehyung following.
I walked to stand in the line, noticing the nice smell of coffee brewing. "What do you want to order?" Taehyung asked. "Whatever you are getting is fine." I smiled, pulling out my wallet.
"No, no! I'll pay. Why don't you go pick a spot to sit." He said, pushing my hand down a bit. I blushed, only able to nod as I quickly turned around to find a seat.
I chose a place in the corner by the window, quickly sitting down and putting my purse and cupcake box down. "Ah, stop being so embarrassed!" I whisper-shouted to myself, patting my cheeks to try and get rid of the blush.
Soon, he walked over to the table and set down the coffee. I thought he would just sit across from me, but he moved the chair to sit right next to me. 'Why do these things keep happening?!' I screamed in my mind.
"You know what I just realized?" He asked. I looked up at him, waiting for him to continue. "I don't know your name."
"Oh, you're right! I'm sorry I've never introduced myself. I'm _y/n_." I said, smiling up at him. "That's a cute name! I'm Taehyung." He giggled a bit. I blushed and looked down quickly. I couldn't tell him I already knew his name though, that would have made me look like a creep.
Well I mean I guess I am...but that's not the point.
"Thanks again for taking the time to go over the designs this late." He said, taking a sip of the coffee. "Oh really, it is no problem at all!" I assured him.
I opened my bag, taking out a small sketchbook and pencil for the cake designs. I flipped to an open page, but before I could ask anything Taehyung snatched the book from my hands.
"You drew all of these?!" He exclaimed, flipping through some old designs. I nodded. "And I made them too." I said, feeling another blush forming. "These are amazing!" He continued.
He finally flipped to a blank page and gave the book back. "So, what did you have in mind?" I asked, already writing down the cake and frosting flavor.
"Something like this, I think she would really like these the best." He explained, showing a few pictures of cakes on his phone.
My mood faltered again when he mentioned his fiancé. But I still had absolutely no reason to feel that way. So I just pushed my feelings aside and tried to act professional
I asked more questions about the cake like how many layers it should be, the shape, specific color and all that. Then I drew a few quickly to see which one he liked best.
"Here are a few things off the top of my head. You can have me fix whatever you like on them." I said, passing Taehyung the notebook.
I waited patiently, sipping my coffee as he carefully looked at each design. As soon as I looked up at him and saw how much he was concentrating on each design, I couldn't help it. I felt really nervous all of a sudden, wanting to impress him.
My foot was tapping lightly, my stomach doing little flips. "I like this one the best." He told me, pointing to the second drawing. "She'll like it too." He continued, smiling.
"Okay, great. I can't wait to work on it!" I said, giving a half-fake smile. I continued to sip the rest of my coffee while he looked through all the sketches again.
I don't know how much time went by, but it must have been a few hours. I looked to the side, noticing how cold I was suddenly. Then I saw rain hitting the window, falling down the glass as it was illuminated by the streetlights.
"Of course it's raining." I mumbled, rolling my eyes. "You don't like the rain?" Taehyung asked.
"No I do! I just don't have a jacket with me." I said, laughing nervously. "You could wear mine." He simply said.
Didn't he know my heart was already exploding?
I was blushing again. "No it's ok, really." I said, shaking my head. "No take it," he was already slipping his arms out and passing it to me. "I don't mind walking you home." He smiled widely.
Why?
"Are you sure?" I asked, lightly gripping his jacket, hesitant to put it on. "It's late, shouldn't you be going home to your fiancé?"
"What?" He asked, completely confused. "Um...isn't this cake for you? Aren't you getting married?" I questioned, now just as confused.
My hopes skyrocketed suddenly.
"What? Oh no, definitely not." He said, laughing. "But I thought the girl with you was your fiancé?" I was still confused, my heart beating quickly.
"No, no! That's my cousin." He explained, still giggling a bit. "I'm just helping her out with some of the wedding stuff since she is really busy." He continued.
I was internally screaming. As soon as I heard those words I felt so relieved. I sighed, my heart still beating quickly and the blush still on my cheeks.
"Besides, wouldn't that be weird for me to ask a girl on a date if I was supposed to be getting married?" He said, smiling down at me.
A date?! I could not believe what was happening right now. I couldn't help but cover my face from embarrassment, his words ringing in my ears.
"Why don't you put on my jacket and I'll walk you home." He suggested, lightly hitting his knee on mine. I just nodded, putting my things away and slowly putting on his jacket, still completely embarrassed.
He got up to put the cups away while I slid out of the seat. When he came back I couldn't help but smile. "The sleeves are too long." I laughed a little, holding up my hands with the sleeves falling over.
Taehyung smiled widely, making my heart flutter. "Then it will keep you warmer." He said, offering his arm to me again. I picked up my bag, making sure I didn't crush the cupcake box too.
I lightly took his arm as he led me outside. I pointed to the direction of my house, and he slowly started walking me home.
"It is a bit cold, isn't it?" He asked, stepping even closer to me as I gripped his arm tighter. The light rain was definitely much colder at night.
But the blush on my face was keeping me warm.
