Jade opens her eyes when she feels something touch her side. She tenses before realizing it is a hand. Sighing, she slowly rolls to her side, looking at the sleeping male beside her, his blond hair tousled and his jaw relaxed. After a few moments, she gets up out of bed and gets her clothes on.

Goodbye, thanks for the meaningless sex and a place to sleep. She thinks before gathering up her belongings and quietly leaving the room.

She steals an apple from the kitchen, taking a bite and wiping off her mouth as she exits the apartment complex and steps out into the cool morning air.

Off to ... somewhere new...  Jade sighs. She has been running for a year now, trying to escape from the past. She shivers as a memory replays in her mind.

It's late at night, she's sitting in her room reading a book. A roar of an engine up the driveway brings her out of her concentration. The squeal of the door opening sends chills down her spine. There was a pause before her step-fathers booming voice makes her jump.

"JADE! WHY AREN'T THE DISHES DONE?!"

She felt panic rise in her chest as he shoves open the door. Her eyes widens in fear as he approaches her bed. He grabs at her shirt and pulls her towards him. He reaches a hand to his buckle with a grim expression.

Jade shakes her head to clear out the memory of that night and many others. She flips up her hood and trots down the steps before exhaling and starting a jog down the sidewalk.

A/N: Soooo yeah... Should I continue? .3.
