" Daniel! Wake up!"
The dark haired boy groans in response. A few moments later the door opens and a slipper is thrown at his head.
"Now! You have school, get up!"
Daniel slowly sits up, his hair sticking up all over. " Alright, alright!" he grumbles, getting up and shuffling to his closet. He comes out of his room, dressed and hair combed, to the frowning face of his mother.
" Hurry up, now you will be late for school!" she snaps, folding her arms and glaring at him.
" S-sorry mom..." he apologizes, looking down.
" And stop your stuttering and mumbling, speak up!" she lightly whaps the back of his head as he passes. He grabs a breakfast bar as he leaves the house.
Daniel closes his hands in fists as he begins his walk, muttering degrading words to himself under his breath. After a few blocks he relaxes his hands and lets out a deep sigh as he reaches a crosswalk.
Meanwhile, Jade is jogging towards the same crosswalk, focusing only on the ground before her. She doesn't see the boy step in front of her.
Daniel yelps in surprise as he is rammed from the right. He sprawls to the ground, and the person falls on top of him. He sees it's a girl with jet black hair, her face shadowed by her hoodie. She curses, then jumps up and backs off, brushing her legs off.
"Sorry." She murmurs, then before he can speak she takes off, leaving him speechless. He watches her jog off around a corner, and wonders who she is. He shakes his head and stands up, then continues his walk to school, the mysterious girl stuck in the back of his mind.
