The Way Things Are

Chapter 4

When Sam and Andy came back from their date, I automatically ask her about the details of it. Andy is, by far, the sexiest werewolf that I've ever seen, considering the fact that he's the only werewolf that I've ever seen. Andy and Sam made a pretty good couple, they were adorable together. Sam came up to me and told me that Andy was an amazing person, and had an amazing personality. Sam was 16, she should be a Junior, but she got held back as a Freshman. Andy, on the other hand, was 17, but looked like he was 20. Sam told me that when people saw them together they got dirty looks, and slow head shakes. But, Sam told me that she felt safer and felt that she had more protection when she was with Andy.

Sam drove me back to Spencer's house after the third hour of talking about nothing but Andy and their date. When I get back to Spencer's house, which has now turned into my house, Spencer got me a Dr. Pepper and some Cookie Duogh ice cream with two spoons. "Spencer is the BEST boyfriend in the world!" I thought to myself. We started heading up the stairs when there was a knock at the door. It was my brother, and he was looking worried.

"What's wrong Darik?" I asked him with full concern. Last time I saw him was when he started to cry when dad and I were fighting about Jazmynn.

"It's dad, he went out with Jazmynn and hasn't called me, or tried to make any type of contact with me. I'm worried," he answers back to me.

"How did you get here?"

"I ran as fast as I could. I need you and Spencer to come with me, I think Jazmynn is some kind of Alpha Vampire or on of the ones the alpha bit."

"Why do you need me?" Spencer asked Darik.

"I have a feeling that she likes you, and that she absolutely HATES Becky. But if I can use you guys as bait for her, than I can kill her. And we want her as dead as possible," Darik says to Spencer and I.

"Well, it's nice to know that my half-sister hates me. I mean, seriously, what have I ever done to her!? And it's a nice thing to know that she's in love with MY boyfriend!" I yell as I start to unhook me coat from the closet in the living room.

"Maybe she hates you because you have what she wants, and she wants him," he says pointing over to Spencer. "She may hate you because Spencer barley knows that anyone besides you exists. She wants him, but you have him. She always gets what she wants. She gets special treatment at the nest. EVERYONE lovers her, and plus Jazmynn is a bitch. She'll do whatever she can to turn you into a bitch as well. You have no idea of what she can do to people that she doesn't like," Darik answers back to me as I start to pull my coat over my front side to zip it.

"So why do I have to go again?" Spencer asks Darik again.

"Like I said before, she wants you, and she knows that she can't have you, so that makes her want you even more. Since you and Becky are going out Jazmynn wants you more than ever. She likes to make people jealous of her. That's why she wants you, to make Becky jealous," Darik replied back.

"Okay, as long as I'm not in any danger!" You could hear all of the sarcasm in Spencer's voice.

"Who said that you were in any danger? All I said was that you and Becky would be used as bait, that doesn't mean that you are in danger. I'll kill Jazmynn before she can get to you."

"Oh, okay then. I really trust you."

"I can sense the sarcasm in your voice, and to tell you now, I'm the only trustworthy one besides Becky."

"Well, at least I know that Becky is trustworthy. So, I'll ask her if you're trustworthy or not. Well Beck?"

"Darik? He's the only other one in the family that I trust now," I answered back to Spencer.

"Okay, fine then. I'll be able to trust you now. Becky wouldn't lie to me," Spencer said to Darik as he got his coat on.

When we see the Impala, we hear somebody yelling. I wonder if it was Jazmynn or dad. But when we get closer, we find out that it was dad.

"Hurry!" I yell to Darik.

"Why?" Darik yells back.

"It looks like dad's hurt! He needs our help!"

"Did you see what happen?"

"No. All I saw was a blurb of something, probably Jazmynn."

"Well, we don't have much time. It looks like dad's in pretty bad condition. We have to get him to a hospital.

As soon as we got to the Emergency Room, one of the nurses came out of dad's room, and tried to convince us that everything was okay. Of course, though, nobody believed her. Both me and my brother knew that dad was NOT going to be okay. Once you go through an attack like that, there's no way to come back from it. It's nearly impossible.
