I check the calendar on my phone before I text Joey back. I was relieved when there was nothing marked. I don't want to leave Joey hanging.

I open our chat and type.

Claire: A good time for me is around 1 is that good for you?

I wait for a response. I place my phone down on my kitchen table and walk to the cabinet. I grab a box of cereal and place it on the counter. I fill the bowl and then pour the milk in.

I walk back to the table and get a spoon before sitting. I hold my phone, it's 9:23. Suddenly a buzz and I open my phone.

Joeyanya: Sounds great.

I smile and put my phone down and I start eating.

I finish tying the laces of my roller skates and I glance over to see Joey already done and holding a camera up. I can only guess what he's doing. I stand, I stumble a little, but keep my balance. It's been years since I've roller skated, I will either do great or horrible. I use the wall to make my way to Joey.

"Here she is!"

"Hi!" I smile and wave.

Soon joey puts the camera down and we make our way to the rink. I can't help but laugh. We look like idiots, there are 3 year olds doing better than us.

I push out and glide into the rink gracefully. I begin pushing, one foot, two foot. I grab the wall to see Joey gliding as well, but a little less balanced. I laugh to see him slipping. I start trying to get the hang of the motion by skating closer to the wall.

After a few minutes Joey is doing the same as me. He looks scared. I laugh, "this is fun, not scary."

He looks up from his gaze at the ground. "Hah, just wondering how much it would hurt to fall."

I smile and let him catch up to me. "It's not that bad, come on have fun!" I push off and glide around the curve in the oval rink. I feel a tap on my shoulder, it's Joey. I laugh as he grabs my arm and holds on.

We skate for a while when suddenly a small kid flies past us, almost hitting us. I see Joey panic, he starts to loose his balance and then he hits the ground, pulling my arm. I get pulled down onto of him. We sit in a heap, I roll over onto my back and start laughing. Next thing I know we are both hysterically laughing. A ref comes and offers us help, I deny his kind offer. I get up and help Joey up onto his knees.

His face is red from the laughter. "Too many little kids showing off."

I laugh and we go around until we reach the nearest exit.

JOEY'S POV

We exit the rink and go onto the carpeted area. It's easier to get around here. There is a concession stand and a bunch of arcade games. We take a seat at a table. I look at Claire, she's watching the people skating. I'm amazed at how she does pick up on every little detail in life. Every beautiful thing, she captures and remembers.

"Joey?" I look up at Claire, "do you want to go back out there?"

I don't really want to embarrass myself again, thanks. "No, I hurt my Knee in that fall, you can go."

She nods and starts rolling over to the rink. Now I watch her like she watches the skaters. She takes a few tries, but in no time she's gliding around the oval. Graceful, peaceful, beautiful. She goes , her hair rushes behind her, one foot, two foot. I watch in amazement, just like Claire does and I pick up every little detail.

CLAIRE'S POV

It's an amazing feeling gliding around. I feel so free, if only the rink was bigger.

When I return to the table I see Joey smiling. He holds two waters. He hands me one. He must have bought them at the concession stand.

"Thanks" I smile and sit down.
