With Billy around time flew fast. Not only time, but our bond matured in a matter of minutes, literary. We've met only couple of hours ago and already I could call him a friend.
We finished our meal and headed straight to the 'regulars' - our bar, which we called regulars accordingly to the repeat number of years we hung out there. Actually, the name of the bar was "66", but I don't think that anyone remembered it that way. Even Phil the owner of the bar, called it regulars. And may I add, that it was me who came up with the name.
We've arrived slightly before Tim and Emmy, and went to wait for them by the bar. I waved to the bar attendant Tony, who as usual was at his post at this hour. He welcomed me and right at once asked what I would prefer from the bottle menu. What can I say. He knew me well by now. Anyways, Billy went ahead with a beer, and warning Tony not to laugh, I ordered a plain soda. He snorted and declared that both of my drinks would be on the bar.
"What's that all about?" Billy asked unamused.
"Tony promised that the day I order only a soft drink, it would be for free."
"Recovering alcoholic," he teased.
"A weekend mania more than a habit. I quit party not long ago, but already dropped down on drinking. Got tired of it."
"That's an improvement," he mocked.
"It's been only for a year. Most of the time I am a good girl," I snickered. Right... "Tell me better about yourself, you know my story."
"Nothing to tell. I like music. Play in a band. Do whatever I want."
"Wow. Do you write music too?"
"Music and songs."
"I would love to hear," I nodded absentmindedly. "How come you're not performing today? It's Saturday, the high time for entertainment."
"The date from today got relocated to the next week."
Tony placed the drinks in front of us. "Thank you," I smiled to him and returned to Billy. "So it's professional, not like a hobby?"
"We like what we do and try to be serious about it."
"Do you play something else other than guitar?"
"Piano, drums," he retorted and took a sip from the glass.
"It's quite engaging. Where can I listen to your band?"
"I'll take you," he promised and angled his posture towards me placing his elbow on the counter. "The guy behind you at the table can't stop staring at you."
"What guy?" I turned my head in the direction Billy pointed and gulped. Oh, Bullshit! In the far corner I sawJason sitting with his friends, Andrew included. Quickly I looked away uncomfortably. My heart began pounding, ripping my chest into pieces from agitation. "What is it, a Groundhog Day?" I muttered.
"Ex-boyfriend?"
"Now I feel like a shot of vodka and a cigarette, darn it," I tsked.
"So, what happened?"
"Nothing," I muttered and pulled through a straw half a glass of my soda at once.
"Looks unfinished to me."
"It was unfinished a week ago, now it is done." Keep breathing...it is really done.
"Why do you look so nervous then?"
