Remus and I walked off the train together.

Immediately after we strolled over to the lake, I was converged on by Lily and Sevs.

"Where were you?" Lily asked worriedly.

I scowled. "I was cornered by a Slytherin. He was a Malfoy. Typical pureblood prat."

"You'll learn a lot about those this year, Lily. Especially since you're a muggleborn," I added after seeing Lily's bewildered expression.

"Do you mean Lucius?" she murmured nervously.

I looked at her quizzically. "That sounds like something he'd be named. Why?"

"Sev and I were stuck in a compartment with him."

"You poor souls," I murmured.

"It was awful!" Lily exclaimed. "They were talking about hexing 'mudbloods'. Sev wouldn't let me tell them I was muggleborn. He insisted I was a halfblood like him."

I nodded in approval, "That was smart, Sevs. You don't know how they would of reacted if they knew she was a muggleborn."

Sevs smiled and nodded at me and then walked towards the groundskeeper, Hagrid. Remus, Severus, Lily and I ended up in the same boat. We didn't talk much, as we were all too in awe of our surroundings. There were more than a few gasps from the boats as we came into view of Hogwarts. The grandeur of the castle amazed me and my eyes picked up on every little ornamental detail of the intricate architecture. Underneath me, I could almost hear the activity of the many magical creatures that resided in the lake.

We pulled up on the banks and waited nervously outside the front doors for a professor to take us inside. There were about 120 of us all up.

I glanced at Remus worriedly. He seemed tired and he was rubbing his forehead, as if he had a headache. A boy to his left seemed to notice Remus' rough demeanour.

"What are you, a mudblood or something?" he sneered rudely.

I was fully prepared to defend my quiet friend but Remus turned to the boy beside him.

"Halfblood, pureblood, muggleborn, doesn't matter. I'll still be better at magic than a posh wank stain like you."

My jaw dropped. That was unexpected.

The boy looked aghast and was silent for a few seconds before he turned to me.

"I suppose your a filthy halfblood. Their worse than mudbloods. Who would want to shag a good-for-nothing muggle? Your parent must have been a pretty shotty wizard or witch. Oh, look at that, your eyes changed colour. No doubt your a descendant of a metamorphagus. I suppose your friend is some halfbreed as well. He's probably a werewolf or something equally disgusting."

The boy's face pulled into a triumphant smirk. A couple of the other students sniggered, practically everyone was watching our encounter. Obviously, he'd though he'd won. Remus looked too shocked to answer. No matter, I've got this.

I crossed my arms and turned towards the pompous ass.

"Well, you're a right twat aren't you."

The boy's smile immediately dropped.

"You keep going on about how filthy muggles and the magically afflicted are but the only filthy blood I see is yours. Your so called 'pureness' comes from generations of inbreeding. Even muggles know that stuff is nasty. If I were you, I'd wish I was a metamorphagus. At least then I wouldn't have to endure that hooked nose. In fact, being a werewolf would be better than being a pureblood. At least I would be somewhat interesting instead of a product of incest."
