Perfect Shock To A New Start

I rubbed my eyes and stifled a yawn as Mum shook me up from my peaceful slumber. Yeah, it was peaceful. Only because I had a really sweet dream *smiles a dreamy smile* and ... duh it was about that boy *guilty smile* :)

Meanwhile, there was really no time to be dreaming about him anymore - today was the first day of school. And it was a new school. New year, new school, new start. I was more than prepared NOT for this. Truth was, I hated transferring schools because of the academic disruptions it would cause, but I was already used to it, so friends... probably wouldn't be much of a problem. Hopefully.

Sighing resignedly to my fate, I tottered out of bed and got ready for school.

Half an hour later, I was already admiring myself in the mirror. I had to admit that the school uniform was rather smart-looking. I turned in all directions and made sure I looked presentable. Hmmm... not bad. At least this school had some fashion sense. Unlike some of my previous schools, this uniform had a white shirt with a black tie and yellow overcoat. I smiled to myself for the third time that day.

"HYUNG AH, ARE U DONE?!" I shouted across the hallway, secretly hoping the sound could last all  that distance, into my brother's room. I was getting quite impatient as I couldn't wait to get into the car. To my brother and mother I would act like a goodie little girl and tell them that it was because I couldn't wait to get to school.

And to myself (and fellow readers), I would say the actual reason is that I *guilty laugh* couldn't bear the heat in that uniform and I JUST NEEDED AIRCON!!

One sad truth: I'm not allowed to turn on the air-con at home without asking eomma for permission :(
And of course she wouldn't allow (like 99.999% of the time)

Jae Hyuk's Pov

Sometimes I really can't understand that little sister of mine. I just don't get why she enjoys school so much. Yeah, I don't. Of course I don't. Who does... ...

Anyway, I don't have a choice, and she's not all that bad.. so I guess I'll have to live with it.

Jae Eun's Pov

I eagerly hopped into the car and buckled tight, while eyeing my hilarious brother, squirming in his seat as he struggled to get his backpack out of the way.

After about twenty minutes or so, the scarlet red Hyundai found itself a reasonably spaced lot in the carpark. Great, we were early!

"Urghhhhh I hate this..." Jae-Hyuk grumbled as soon as it was time to get out of the car and find our classrooms.

*Secret smile count 4*

I couldn't help grinning. My brother... he was 18 but no one would believe it. He really behaved as if he was only 13 or something. Sigh.

Jae Eun and Jae Hyuk finally split up at the top of the spiral staircase to find their individual classrooms after taking their attendance in the common hall where a major mass-gathering of students (more like bees it looked like yellow and black striped lol) were huddled around various teachers.

Jae Eun climbed all the way to the fourth storey before scanning her surroundings and trying to take a mental shot of the main classrooms, lockers and toilets in the walkway. "Easier than I expected..." she thought to herself as she entered the classroom with the same label as the one on the slip of paper she had been given.

"Um... hello..?" She stepped into the classroom hesitantly. There had been active buzzing and some chaos going on in the classroom but it seemed like time froze for a moment when she entered. Everyone stopped their hustle and bustle for a few seconds as they looked up at the new arrival.

Jae Eun felt herself being examined for a while by some of her to-be classmates. She stood awkwardly at the doorway and tried to think of a way to break this even more awkward silence. Fortunately, it wasn't necessary as a girl sitting at the second front row stood up and walked to Jae Eun.

"Annyeong," she began, and put out her hand. "I'm Lee Soo Hye, the class monitress. You can call me Soo." Soo Hye smiled warmly at Jae Eun.

Jae Eun's Pov

I blushed a little and shook her outstretched hand, glad of some welcoming essence. "Annyeong, I'm Jae Eun and I'm a transfer student." I replied in my most courteous voice possible.

The students resumed their own activities, returning to their normal selves while I walked down the row and found myself a comfortable seat at the back row. I placed my heavy backpack on the floor, settled down and began to slowly unpack my belongings into the under-table compartment.

30 minutes passed, and more students began to stream into the classroom. I looked up once more from the book I had been reading to pass time, and noticed that many of the students already knew one another rather well. Feeling a little left-out, I shut my book and gently laid my head on the table, meaning to rest for awhile, but was disturbed in no time when someone accidentally tripped over my bag.

An all-too familiar "sorry" could be heard. I looked up just in time to catch sight of the partially-hidden hooded face. I continued to stare at him with an open mouth as he settled down onto the chair next to me. He removed his jacket, hung it around his chair, turned to glance at me briefly, before looking away and unpacking his stuff. But of course, the first thing he did was stuff his earphones into his ears, totally oblivious to his surroundings.

Perhaps alot of people would think that he chose that seat of his own accord, blind to the fact that there was no other vacant ones left. But to me, it was more like he had no choice. A cold atmospheric air hung between the two of us. Once again, I was determined to find out more about this mysterious boy.

It was then that I realised I didn't know his name.

Author's Note:

Hi, thanks for reading this trash :)

But just in case you haven't realised, this boy is the same one as the boy in the first chapter.

Happy Reading!! :-)
