To the Skies - Pit X Reader

~ NINE ~

Your P.O.V

People slowly discontinue fighting and notice Pit. They slowly start to gather around you two in shock, even though many have passed... Seeing Pit die was a shocking sight for everyone, even Hades army. Your friends spot you and stand behind you, giving you space. Everyone is dead silent.

"Y/N... You know I love you... Right?" He asks weakly, completely ignoring the crowd. You force yourself to smile and nod slowly "Yes" You choke, tears starting to stream down your face. Pit smiles back and sighs. "P-Pit! Don't leave me!" You say sniffling. 

Pit goes limp and Everyone gasps. You tremble and that's when it really hit you. You break into a sob as well as many other people. Zoey, Harper and Lily bend down to meet your level and observe Pit's lifeless body.

"I-I can't believe he's-" Lily could not finish her sentence as tears stream down everyone's face. Hades army seemed to have sympathy but only a few shedded tears. Hades army backed up and slowly retreated, leaving Palutena's army behind. 

You hear Palutena's majestic voice booms, it seems as if she has just arrived. "What's going on?" She asks. Many people bow and Harper stands up "Your majesty... Pit... He's gone" Harper whispers, looking down at her feet. 

Palutena's eyes widen "What?" She asks in disbelief, pushing herself in the front of the crowd, to see Pit's dead body. She immediately picks up Pit as people step back, giving Palutena space. The Goddess exchanges no words, and casually walks away with Pit in her arms.

People watch her walk off and slowly following, heading back to their home, Skyworld

1 week later

You enter push the large gate doors, as they introduce you to Palutena's castle. You could still see greif and tiredness in the Goddess's eyes, as she held the limp angel. As she hears the doors her head shoots up and sees you. She sets Pit down and stands up, brushing dust off her clothes.

"Is he really dead?" You ask her, your voice cracking with sorrow. Palutena nods and takes a deep breath "Although... I was up for the past couple of days" She says weakly "I think I know how to bring him back" 

You step back in shock. Bring him back?! That's impossible!  "N-no... With all do respect I do not believe you are capable of such power!" You argue in disbelief. Palutena stares at you blankly "You're right. I can't cast this spell without a price to pay." She says emotionless.

You blink slowly, not understanding. "A price? What price?" You ask tensing. Palutena sighs and looks down "My life." She whispers.

You gasp and cover your mouth with your hands "Your life!? Aren't you a Goddess? Isn't that impossible?" You ask multiple questions. Palutena scoffs "When it comes to magic, nothing is impossible. And I am willing to sacrifice my life for Pit" She says.

You didn't know what to think. You knew that Pit was dead, and wanted him back... But the Goddess taking his place didn't seem right. Palutena interrupts your thoughts "I shall perform this spell immediately... And I do not want you to tell the people of Skyworld I have performed this task" She orders.

You start to argue "But what would I tell them Lady Palutena!?" You ask. Palutena nods, understanding your confusion. "I want you to tell them... I've been taking a break of being the Goddess of Light" Palutena smiles sadly.

You sigh, you knew you couldn't stop Palutena from preforming this spell. So you stepped back, signaling her that you gave in. She acknowledges you with a nod and starts to walk towards Pit's body. 

She leans down and touches Pit's forehead with her finger, and starts to whisper something. 

This was it... This was the moment that Pit would come back, and the Goddess of Light would leave us
