chapter I

SOPHIES POV

Honestly words could not describe how excited I was, and still am, after the organisation told me that I won the scholarship!

I was going to study in the USA and the fact, that my best friend also got a scholarship, made the whole thing even better!

It has always been my dream to study in the USA, but it's just way too expensive!

Of course, Canada is also great, but I want to change something in my life. I don't want to live the same routine every day.

I want to feel alive and I guess the USA is the best place for that.

I had to get ready for my flight, which was in 4 hours!

Sounds like a lot of time, but hell nah, time is flying!

I just threw all the things I would need in my suitcases and then brought them all downstairs where my mother, my father and my brother were already waiting for me.

I put on my shoes and took a jacket to put it on as well.

My dad took my suitcases and put them in the back of the car, while my mom, my brother and I already took a seat in the car.

"Are you ready?" my mom asked me, looking at me through the mirror.

I could tell that she wasn't.

"I am, but I am also very excited and..somehow I am afraid.." I said a bit insecure.

"I believe in you, sweetie. This is your chance to follow your dreams!" she said and forced her self to smile, what made me feel even more insecure.

I was about to say something, when my dad entered the car, so I decided to close my mouth.

We drove to the plane station.

During the ride I listened to music and had my eyes closed.

I was sunk in my imagination as we arrived to the plane station and my mom opened my door.

"There we are!" she said and pulled out my earphones. I winced and looked at her, nodded and left the car to help my dad taking out my suitcases.

"I can't believe that you will actually leave us!" my dad said and tried to laugh.

I looked at him, took a deep breath and also laughed a bit.

"I won't be gone forever ,dad, the USA is not that far away and I will visit you two as soon as I have saved enough money, promise!" I smiled at him.

"It's just.." he also took a deep breath "you are my little girl..and.." I interrupted him and gave him a hug.

"It's okay, dad, it's also difficult to me, but this is my dream and probably the only chance I will get to study in the USA and come on, I'm 18! I'm not a 'little girl' anymore." I giggled and my dad sighed.

"To me, you will always be my little girl, no matter how old or tall you are." he pulled away and took one of my suitcases and closed the car right after I took out the other one.

We went inside and I looked around to look for my best friend with my eyes.
Hm...where is she..?

"Sophie!" a voice shouted behind me and I knew to who it belonged.

I turned around. "Vanessa!" I giggled and hugged her tight.

"I am SO excited!!" I said in a high voice and looked at her.

"So am I!" she said and almost jumped.

I laughed and greeted her parents.

"Can you believe that we are about to fly to Los Angeles?!" she said overwhelmed and I could see the excitement in her eyes.

"To be honest, I still can't believe it!" I giggled and looked up to see when our flight would be.

~ after they said goodbye to their parents and went on board of the plane ~

We took our seats and luckily I got the one at the window.

We had a conversation before we both took out our earphones and started listening to music.

Soon we both fell asleep and missed like the whole flight to a new chapter of our lives.

Things will happen, that we both never expected, especially I didn't except things like that..
