THE ACADEMY

CHAPTER 8

A shudder ran through my whole body, but not from the cold seeping in through the small bathroom window. It's the sign. It's all happening again.

The prickling sensation flows through my veins. My bones crack, twisting in all directions. All non human like directions. The pain isn't just excruciating, it's more than that.

I'm not breathing correctly, I'm huffing in pain. Clasping onto the chest part of my shirt. The panting and drooling began to rush through and out of my mouth.

My normal human-like hair poked out from within my body, forming locks of thick fur. The patches grew over every cold, shivering inch of my body.

No...Not again...

My teeth enlarge and curve forming fangs for murder. I looked into the mirror, my reflection was horrid..

" Get out the bathroom! " hollered Daria from the other side of the door, banging continuously.

Her voice made me jump and look away, when I looked back at the mirror I was back to normal. What a relief.

I wiped away any existing sweat that still remained and turned the knob.

" It's about time. What took you so long Josh?" she asked, trying to gain eye contact with me.

I looked up and started to swat the air. Giving the impression that I let one rip. " Nothing really.. " I said then let out a small laugh. It was fake but believable.

" Ugh! You disgust me you know? " she said. Then pushed her way into the bathroom. Shutting the door behind.

I turned away from the bathroom door, sighing and headed down the hall towards the kitchen. Something smelt good.

It was dark but my eyes adjusted quickly and I saw everything clearly as if the sun was shining. My feet somehow guided me in front of the refrigerator. What is this?

My heart began to race, it pounded in my chest. The sound of It was all I could hear and the slightest sent of meat filled my nostrils.

Ba-boom...boom...ba-boom...

I burst the fridge open, dropped to my knees and opened every package of meat, every cold piece of it. Even frozen would do. Stuffing my face full of it all.

Gulp after gulp... I couldn't stop...

" Josh? " whispered a soft voice from around the corner. I could feel her eyes peep through my soul breaking me of my disgusting trance.

I turned around..

He turned around. The sight of him was frightening. My hands trembled in fear. It all made sense now..
