Chapter 4: Mason

MASON

Arriving at the town hall, I saw everyone was already here. I jogged to the front of the hall and turned round to face them. I really didn’t like being the soon-to-be-alpha but I couldn’t help it.

“So what exactly is happening?” asked one person with his arms wrapped around his mate. I suddenly got a glimpse of Stella laughing in my mind and I smiled as I remembered that she tried to seduce me twice today. It was like she wanted us to…

“Earth to soon-to-be-alpha” Milo said, waving a hand before my face. I shook my head and turned back to the pack.

“Right, so Charles and Alicia have been seen in the woods and they almost caught Stella Thompson-“ I heard a few gasps and whispers from the pack but ignored them. “They may have realised who she is. And if that’s the case, we may have a war on our hands. Stella hasn’t turned yet so I would like some people on parole in the woods and around town.”

“Destin, Owen and I will do the first round” said Aden nodding at me. I nodded back and looked back at the pack.

“Stella so happens to be my mate as some of you may now from the prophecy. So that means you will be protecting our next Alpha female once I step up” I claimed, feeling my mums happy eyes on me. I smiled at her and she clapped her hands as my dad’s arms wrapped around her waist. “Any questions?”

“I have one” said a guy pushing through the crowd. He looked very familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it. He had very scruffy hair and his clothes were a little too tight but he still looked decent.

“Umm…. Go ahead?” I asked, not sure if he was one of our pack. I got a sniff to see if he was werewolf and the scent was even familiar.

“When can I properly meet my sisters mate?” he grinned crookedly, standing in front of me. My eyes widened.

“Meeko?” I asked, grinning.

“The one and only” he winked, and I laughed. I then realised the whole pack was watching.

“Come with me” I said, and Milo and Jade followed.

“What the hell Mason?!” Jade asked, looking at Meeko and then at Milo who shrugged. I looked at Meeko who was looking thoughtful.

“Umm… well Meeko is really Stella’s brother. He went in to hiding because he has the same blood as Stella. Stella doesn’t know yet-“ I started but Meeko interrupted.

“And it’s going to stay that way” he claimed, nodding his head.

“She needs to know she has a brother” I replied, confused why he was doing this.

“My blood is even more powerful than Stella’s because I’m male. If they ever got Stella, they will torture her till she told them where I was. I don’t want that.” He replied, crossing his arms. “She’ll miss Meeko the dog too much if I told her”

“But when she turns werewolf, she’ll know you’re a werewolf too…” Milo interrupted us. Jade was silent, gathering in the information.

“That’s a good point…” Meeko said, thoughtfully.

“Meeko, you have to tell Stella who you are. It won’t endanger her because we won’t let her out of our sights.

“But you told her she can go wherever she wants when she changes” Jade protested.

“That was when I didn’t know how much danger she’ll be in” I replied, wanting to be with her right now.

“She won’t like that at all…” Jade sighed and took Milo’s hand. “Come on, I’m hungry” and they walked off in to the town. I looked at Meeko and he was still thinking.

“We need to tell her… just not the bits she doesn’t need to know. Like the fact that you have the same blood” I said, as we started walking towards Stella’s apartment.

“Are you sure?”

“I wouldn’t put my mate in any more danger than she already is. It’ll be fine” I hope.
