Chapter 4: Fractions

I blinked.

No. No, this wasn't happening. I looked back at Harry, he had his hand over his mouth, his eyes wide in shock.

"Uh… Rebecca, it's-it's me, Autumn." I stammered nervously. Suddenly the door bursted open, and an angry nurse stormed in.

"What's going on here? How long has she been awake? Why didn't you tell anyone?" She shouted at me.

"Whoa! I-I'm sorry, ma'am. She's my best friend and-"

"Who are you!?" She asked, raising her voice even more.

"I'm… Autumn. I was in the car crash that we both got in this morning." I said quietly, "I'm sorry, I just found out she woke up and-"

"Listen, I don't care. Just get out of here, and take your friends with you. Now!" She shouted, frustrated.

Tears formed in my eyes, I didn't do well under pressure and I didn't do well being yelled at by adults, especially when I did nothing wrong. Harry noticed and took my hand, walking me out of the room. The boys crowded around us, curiously. She… She didn't know who I was. How long will it be until she remembers? Will she ever remember? My eyes filled with tears, and I quickly began to walk away from the boys, towards the food court.

Harry caught up to me and grabbed me by the wrist, spinning me around to face him. "Hey…" he said comfortingly. He noticed the tears falling down my cheeks, and he wiped both cheeks with his thumbs.

"I seem to be doing this a lot today." he joked, giving me a crooked smile. I chuckled, halfheartedly. He pulled me into an embrace, resting his chin on my head. God, he was tall.

"I.. I know this is a crazy day for you, and you're going through a lot. But I want you to know that I'm here for you, love. I am so happy that I… found you and I promise I won't let anything tear apart our friendship ever again. I promise." He said, rubbing my back softly.

"Harry…" I said, into his chest.

"Yeah?" He said, pulling me out of the hug, and looking into my eyes intently.

"The last time that we spoke, we were just kids. And now… we're all grown up. We're completely different people. We can't just… pick up our friendship where we left off and try to make up for all the years we lost. How do you know, we'll still have our connection that we had all those years ago?" I said, frowning.

A wide smile spread across Harry's face, showing off his dimples. He grabbed me by the hand and spun me around, then grabbed my other hand, and started to do a slow waltz… The hell?

"And so, we danced… because she completed me." he began to sing, trying to jog my memory.

"We're 2 numbers in a fraction, don't you see?" he kept singing, then it finally hit me.

"Oh my god!" I laughed. "I remember this! We had to preform this in front of the whole class in 2nd grade! Mrs. Perkins wrote a play about fractions and tried to turn it into a musical, my god! I can't believe you actually remem-"

"I'm the 2…" Harry sang, cutting me off, waiting for me to sing along. He gave me a look, smiling and raising his eye brows. How can I resist his charm? I sighed and began to sing my part.
