With my paws still pressed against the stones on the bottom of the lake, my head slightly lowered and my body in ready position to flee I kept my eyes locked on the greyish brown wolf that had its eyes locked on me in a vicious way, I refused to look away in case it took that as an opportunity to attack.
Run.. Run.. Hide!
My thoughts kept running through my head setting of an instinct to run and hide, these wolves weren’t your friendliest type, but I forced my body to stay in place. My ears twitched to the sound of the light brown wolf behind I could hear it moving slightly which caused my fur to stand up slightly more and my legs to bend lowering my body. In that instant I saw the wolf my gaze is locked on move his eyes from me, with that slight advantage I took off out the lake and straight in between them with the large gap they left and straight into the forest never looking back. I did however keep my ears trained to their movement and their paws hearing one set start to run after me
Why one? I thought to myself why not both of them, wouldn’t it be easier for them as it’d be two against one.
Then I heard a howl of a wolf by the lake, there was more of them? With that knowledge known I picked up the pace pushing my legs to move faster than before and towards a more dense part of the forest so I could lose them in the trees. I could still hear the slam of paws behind me running through the forest after me, it seems that no matter how faster I run they keep up.
I need to get of this path I thought pushing myself forward faster knowing that there are a lot of trees up ahead where I can lose this wolf.
-------------------------------
Once I reach the part of the forest with more trees I take a sharp right off the path and run straight in and through a large bush before turning a sharp left and running into more bushes that gather around the trees. Slowing down my pace I come to a slow walk watching my feet on any large sticks and rocks so I don’t make a sound, I focus on my ears and notice that the wolf that was chasing me has stopped running, so he must have lost me as I went into the bushes.
Now focused on my breathing, I calm myself slowly lowering my belly to the ground to catch my breath. Of all days I choose to shift and venture out do I get seen by two wolves, one which didn’t look all that friendly and why were they chasing me? Last I remember this area wasn’t pack territory. Maybe because I wasn’t part of their pack or with a pack they take me for a rogue and aim for a challenge or kill.
Taking a slow breath I raise myself slightly into a crouch and move as quiet as possible through the bushes and in a direction that I think is safe, ahead of me I see a slightly more open area so I can scan my surroundings and see where I am, however the closer I got to the opening I heard a howl close by then more howls respond not so far away. Swallowing slightly I shoot out of the bush and full out sprint in a forward direction, now running for running sake just to escape these wolves.
Glancing over my shoulder for the first time ever I regret it instantly as two wolves run from the bushes behind my snapping their jaws and narrowing their eyes. Turning my head back I feel panic build in my chest as I push my legs faster determined to flee these wolves. While running from the two behind me my ears pick up on another set of paws running to my right as well as a set of paws on my left, turning my head slightly to the right I see the light brown wolf from before at the lake so when I turn my head to the right I spot the another wolf as well chasing me. However I haven’t seen the greyish brown one that found me at the lake..
Four possibly Five against One? Not so good.
As I push myself even more with running I can feel my chest slowly tightening from too much heavy breathing and my legs starting to ache as well as my paws, yet I have a sudden burst of energy when I realise that my small pack village isn’t far from here so with that small thought I push myself that little more to reach it, to reach them!
It isn’t until I burst from the trees and im in the open do I realise that the village isn’t the same pack village from 10 years ago when I lived here, the village isn’t really there anymore buildings clasped and black burnt wood, my home, ruined. Taking in the village I never realised I came to a halt in my tracks until I feel a nip on my hind leg from a pair of sharp teeth, spinning my head I see another grey wolf with its head lowered snarling at me, my eyes scan around connecting with 4 other pairs before landing on a pair that look at me viciously while snarling, the greyish brown one from the lake before.
Coming face to face with a snarling angry wolf isn’t an all too good experience especially when it’s never happened before in your life, I felt my tail shoot in between my back legs while cowering my body back away from the snarling, drooling jaws. Glancing out the corner of my eye I see the brown wolf stood away from the others looking at me with a different look compared to the other four, this one is a look of sympathy? Turning my eyes away I look back at the one in front of me as he turns to the side slightly still watching me, I feel the two behind me push their fronts into my hind legs forcing me to move forward. With those two behind me and another two either side of me I finally feel me head drop and my chest deflate as a somewhat sigh leaves my throat.
