Liver

I am liver,
Of life thus far,
And even though
I have broken bones,
Or shattered veins,
Cracked and scattered,
White scars on my being
From the heavy chains
Clasped tightly around my wrists.
Ive Never lost my nerves.
Or lost my head,
Crossed up my fingers,
And hoped for the best.
Bitten my tongue,
Paralysed my heart,
Gritted my teeth,
And went back to the start
Danced with the devil,
Buckled my knees
Laughed with the enemy,
Or hugged any trees.
For this life is just life
And it occurs only once
In a blue moon
It may not be important
As love may do
However far you've come
How dark and grotesque
You've never died once
And not been able to read
This poems end.
