The Wanted {Retold}:

I have decided to make a retold story of my original The Wanted because I wanted to changes a few things. The characters and situation will be the same (slightly).

I just needed something to do and the idea popped in my head so here it is! The original will never get deleted. But this book will end different.

I hope you will like the slight changes and shifts of the story.

Enjoy!

Prologue

I clenched the knife in my hand tighter as I heard faint footsteps making there way towards me.

 "Annabel!" the cold voice called.

A shiver ran down my spine as I pressed myself further into the wall inside the dark room, trying to will my frantic heartbeats to slow down. I knew I would be in trouble for what I did but I didn't mean to do it. I didn't even realized I done it until the thick black veil vanished from my sight and I held a knife soaked in blood.

I briefly looked down through the darkness to see my blood drenched hand clinging onto the knife, the footsteps got close, causing my heart to pick up pace. I cursed myself mentally for loosing my temper which never really happened before, now I'm going to get killed. I heard a cry of anger and I froze in place he was beyond pissed now.

"Annabel!" he shouted, anger evident in his voice. When I didn't reply a roar sounded before he stalk down the hallway. I did my best to remain silent other than my racing heart, I closed my eyes tightly and stopped breathing as I heard him slowly walking pass the door I was hiding behind. I opened my eyes and lazily leaned my head against the wall in relief.

Suddenly the door flew open, I gasped in shock before pressing myself further into the wall. I saw the shadow from the doorway before looming into the room. I watched the back of the vampire I dreaded to see the most, his shoulders moving up and down as he breathed in heavily out of anger. His muscles moved against his fitted black shirt making him seem bigger.

Just as I started to inch myself towards the doorway as silently as I could, he whirled around, his golden eyes engulfed in flames as they landed on me. His brown hair in a disarray his scar on his left cheek that reached his ear used to be barely noticeable. Now it was red and angry only a little crimson dribbled down his cheek. I looked back up to his eyes and found that they mirrored the bright red of his scar.

I looked back down to the knife in my hand in disbelief before looking back towards him. A single thought coursed through my mind. Run. I spun on my heel to bolt out of the door, just when I got one foot pass the threshold, my roots screamed of pain. I was yanked back into the room, I yelled out as I frantically scratched against his hand that had a tight grip of my hair. I desperately kicked my feet out in hopes of hitting him.

A low growl vibrated from him as his grip tightened, causing me to scream out louder. As tears began to prick my eyes, I swung the knife behind me blindly in hopes to scratch him in some way. He released me and I fell to the ground, I scrambled to my feet and locked eyes with him. The monster bared his teeth at me in a taunting smile. He wants me to run, he wants the chase, the thrill of catching his prey before feasting.

He stalked towards me with a snarl and was in front of me before I could attempt to move out of the way. I was pinned to the wall with a death grip around my neck within a blink of an eye. I tried to gasp for air but his grip tightened as his eyes challenged me. I couldn't move, my body slowly became numb and my lungs began to burn. I watched as his lips pulled back, exposing white sharp teeth in a deathly manner and my eyes widened in fear.

"You shouldn't have done that." he growled lowly in my face, I bit back a whimper.

"Don't!" was all I could manage out with the lack of air as I watch him bring his teeth closer to my neck, my pulse quickened.

"I don't think I can stop." A deep rumble of satisfaction vibrated within him as he felt my pulse through his hands. My vision began to blur with the lack of oxygen. I desperately tried to gasp for air but a gurgle sound escaped my mouth. As I started to squirm but he growled in warning as he pushed me further into the wall.

"D-Damien!" I called out as fear ran through my body. My eyes started to get heavy and my struggling was slowly beginning to stop. Just before my eyes began to close, his loosed enough to force air into my screaming lungs. I ignored the burning sensation as I continued to breathe as much air as possible. Damien started to scrape his fangs against my neck as he tightened his grip again. Before he could pierce my skin, I frantically swung my hand with the knife towards his face as I closed my eyes. He blocked the blow with one arm, the knife cut through his sleeve and went through his arm. I gasped for another breath of air and maneuvered out of his other hand as he snarled in pain.

After crawling away and scrambling to my feet, I finally got to the courage to look at Damien to find him hunched over in pain. I watched as he slowly pulled the knife free of his arm with a roar, the sliver metal crashed against the floor soaked in blood. His eyes narrowed in at the piece of metal before his gaze snapped to me. He slowly stood straight then turned towards me, his eyes held me in place as I watched him crouch down and snarl as his eyes engulfed in flames and narrowed.

I stumbled backwards as he inched forward, his eyes watching his prey's every move to match his own.  Before he made the first move, I bolt out the door screaming like a mad woman. I ran straight down the dim hall forcing my legs to move faster as  I heard his animalistic growls and snarls as he came after behind me. I skidded to a stopped once I realized I came to a dead end. The only escape was a window that was too high for me to even attempt to reach.

I turned and froze as I saw Damien standing feet away seeming dangerously calm as his narrowed eyes took me in. He appeared pleased to find his prey cornered with nowhere to go, his eyes took me in slowly like he was already feasting on me. I whimpered as he started to run towards me and just as he was getting close, my body tensed and it felt almost like an instinct as I braced myself against the wall then pushed myself up as Damien ran into the wall.

I used his back for leverage and pushed myself towards the window, clinging onto the edge of it. I did not give myself enough time to ponder what I had done and I used my feet to  push myself up into the window. I was now sitting in the window looking down at Damien who stared at me in disbelief and  anger. I could tell he lost control as he snarled and clawed at the huge space between us as he tried to jump towards me. His prey just inches away but he can't reach and he refuses to admit defeat. Damien clawed the wall once more, leaving behind scratch marks, his eyes never left me, it was a promise. He won't just let me get away that easily, not his favored helpless animal.

I took a deep breath before pushing myself out the window and surprisingly landed on my feet on the smooth green grass. I looked up at the night sky and saw to bright full moon I looked back at my prison before disappearing off into the woods, hoping I would find a town soon.

I never looked back since.

And I stayed on the run.
