Road Trip

Chapter 4: It's go time

Julia woke up at exactly 6:30 A.M. she couldn't really sleep munch last night and decided to just get ready and skip breakfast. "Are you ready for your big trip?" Her sister asked."Yeah, I think it'll be fun since all my friends will be there." Julia wasn't really lying this was something big and she would have the support of her friends. "Ok well I'm going to get my bags and I"ll be heading out." Julia said as she got up. That's when Ryan knocked on the door. "Hi Tiffany is Julia ready?" she asked looking around. "Yes! I'll be down in a second!" She took one last look at her room,grabbed bag, and met Ryan downstairs. She gave her sister a hug and headed out to their meeting spot.

As they were walking Ryan got more and more nervous. Although she had gotten used to the idea more and more as the days went by. "If we get in trouble, I hope it'll be worth it." she said looking at Julia. "Me too it would suck to come all this way only to get caught in the end" She replied. They finally met up with Alex and Kory at the bus stop. "Where's Vanessa?" was the first thing Julia asked. "Shes's on her way I think she packed more than anyone on this trip." Kory said rolling his eyes. Julia was about to say something when they heard a very loud "I'M HERE!" There was Vanessa carrying 3 different bags all of them were stuffed. "Sorry, I had a hard time getting my bags here." She replied out of breath. "What could you possibly need in there!?" Kory asked. She proceeded to glare before replying "All of this is to disinfect things on the way there. Only one bag has my clothes and everything in it" She replied. Luckily their bus arrived just in time. "Ok everyone lets go we might have time to kill once we get there." Alex said. "Where are we going again?" Ryan asked. "Orlando its only 4 hours away." He said as they loaded the bus. They all were able to get seats close to each other except for Vanessa who had to sit next to a really loud baby and mom, she at least wanted to hear when she got there. Kory pulled out his iPod and decided to listen to some music to pass time. Julia and Alex just talked about anything they could, school, the trip, things they wanted to do when they got there, etc. Ryan decided to read her book for the report and Vannessa got out her sketchbook and drew different things she saw.

The bus ride wasn't so bad surprisingly, they still had time to get to their hotel and find something to do. They got off the bus and looked at their map. "We have a 5-minute walk from here to our hotel." Alex said. "I can't believe we really did this!" Kory exclaimed. The weather was warm and the sun was out it lifted up their spirits a bit. As they were walking a few adults gave them some weird looks from adults but I guess they just passed it off as kids on a school trip. When they finally arrived Vanessa loudly said: "This is where we're staying!?" The hotel was very old and looked a bit dirty but considering the funds they had this was the best Alex could do. They walked into the dingy lobby with a very strong mildew smell by the time they reached the desk Vanessa was about to pass out. "Hi, we have a reservation under Williams?" Ryan said to the receptionist. Helga which they're guessing is the name of the receptionist based on the very worn name tag handed them keys for their three rooms.

They quickly left the lobby and all looked at the numbers on the keys, 301,209,208. The boys had one room and the girls had the others. "There is no way I'm staying here! Don't touch anything until I disinfect every single thing in that room." Vanessa thought she wouldn't have to use her cleaning supplies too much but I guess she was wrong. The rooms weren't bad and Ryan ended up getting a room to herself. Kory,Alex,Julia, and Vanessa all had rooms with two stiff beds, a bathroom, and balcony. "See this isn't so bad." Julia said while unpacking her stuff. Meanwhile, Vanessa was pulling out wipes,Lysol, and some cleaning solution. She started with the doorknobs,moved to changing the sheets on the beds, and wiping down things in the bathroom. She could only hope the boys would do the same. A sigh of relief escaped her as she unpacked she finally felt prepared for this trip. Above them Alex and Kory only did half of disinfecting, they didn't want Vanessa to take over their room with girly scents but even they knew this place wasn't as sanitary as other hotels. They were going to unpack later when they got back in the evening. As for Ryan she had already gotten her room ready within 30 minutes and decided to read her book until further notice. Then Alex knocked on the door. "Come on Ryan! We need food we're starving out here!" She quickly opened the door to find them all looking like they haven't eaten for years when in reality it was only 4 hours. Julia pulled out her phone and looked up places to eat. "There's a McDonald's nearby we could eat there?" But no one really wanted that. "How about we order pizza?" If you didn't know this pair of friends you did know that pizza was a staple food 24/7. They all went back to Julia and Vanessa's room to order the pizza. "Yes, we would like 2 large pepperoni and cheese pizzas. We're at the shady oaks hotel room 208. Ok, thank you. Well, the pizza should be here soon and luckily it only costs $15.68." They set up some paper plates they had and waited for lunch to arrive when it finally came they ate and just talked about what they wanted to do now that they're here.
