Chapter Four: What?

I suddenly get dizzy and fall into the soft green grass, the sky above me spins in circles. Darkness wraps around me like a blanket, accepting me into the black abyss. I'm aware of everything, except there isn't anything but Black....swirling and twisting all around me. I turn and see my dad, he looks exactly as he did the day he died. He opens his arms and I crash into him, hugging him tight.

"Krystal. My little Krystal." He says rubbing my back.

"Dad....I missed you so much." I bury my face into his shirt to hide the tears.

"It's okay Krystal, everything will be okay. I'm always here with you. Remember that, okay? Always" his kisses me on the forehead then he's gone. I twirl around in the darkness looking for him, and then the ground under my feet dissapears. I'm falling.

"Dad!" I scream right before I hit the floor. The smell of flowers is suffocating. I look up and see my dads coffin. No....I'm at the visitation....this isn't good....

My 14 year old self sits in the front row with my mother, whom I had just met. I cling to her and we're both crying. I will have to burn his body tomorrow.

The scene changes and my mother and I are standing outside the funeral home. Her bright red hair flows behind her like there's a constant breeze touching it.

"Krystal, love, when you turn 18, you'll get powers. I can't explain because we're being watched. These powers will help you through the hardest part of your life." She hugs me once more then disappears into a tunnel of golden light. Leaving me to give my dad a hunters funeral alone.

I'm falling again, the darkness taking control.

"Mom! Dad!" I yell "someone....please...." Tears stream down my face.

"It's an angel prophecy." Rainy says, standing in front of me.

"What? What are you talking about??"

"You and me. The Angels said that I would fall in love with a human girl. You are that human." Dark, ruffled, wings extend from his back, And he disappears.

"STOP THIS! QUIT PLAYING WITH ME!" I scream into the empty darkness."JUST STOP!" My tears become heavier. The darkness is blurred. Something warm and sticky falls onto my cheek, the metallic smell of blood fills the air. I look up and see the leader of The Union staring at me with his dark eyes. I reach for my knife, but he drops on me before I can get it.

"Ah look what I have here.....I caught Little Krystal Shiner before she caught me." He smiles, his multiple fangs coming out of his top and bottom gum.

"Get off of me Ortho." I say not breaking eye contact. He hisses but before he can sink his teeth into my neck, Rainy tears him off of me. Rainy swings his machete but misses, and Ortho rips his throat out. I scream, but then remember that it's not real.

"Oh look, little K's boyfriend is dead. How sad!"

"It's not real."

Ortho steps closer "oh but it will be Little Krystal....just like your daddy, Riddle Shiner was it? Rainy will die too."

"It's a dream! It can't possibly be real!"

"Oh but it is Little K....Your dreams are the future."

My eyes snap open, I sit up and I see my room. My black duvet bunched up around me, my window broken from when it slammed shut. Real life. I pick up my phone off the bed side table.

I've been asleep for a week. I've missed New Year's Eve. It's two days until my birthday. What put me out for a week?!

What happened????

I'm plunged into darkness again.
