MANIFESTO

I
If it be that our senses have been atrophied by the restricting standards of society, or if it be that today's artist's minds are dormant, we proclaim a new vision. The free, uncensored expression of the labyrinthine human brain. We think it important to observe the detail and to paint the bigger picture, to provoke a reaction, to 'derange the senses'. All art is great if it provokes any sort of reaction. 'It is our duty to break the law', to free our minds, to write what isn't appropriate. To explore the avenues of our minds and produce masterpieces. To have new content and disregard the restraints of literary genres. "Lest we die unbloomed."

II
"Destroy the old to build the new" is a suggestion that projects a false sense of change and/or of evolution onto the recipient. In order to build the new, we need to destroy the old, rip it to shreds, burn it, and build the new from scratch. We need to break the divides of styles and genres, to break the divides between people and between artists. To annihilate everything that sets the world apart. To invent new materials in order to build a world anew. We need to wake up and inspect the world we live in, to see that fifty years ago differs from now on more than a few things. We need to realize that our mentality, our art, our way of seeing life has to change. And we need to make these changes for ourselves. You don't destroy the old to build the new, you destroy the old and reimagine, rethink and reinvent the new.

III
It is indeed a difficult task to be innovative in an age where every thought has been thought by someone else. The way to approach things is to look at all new thought and idea from a different angle. 'Don't think outside the box, think like there is no box'. But even that is restricting the extent of our ideas. In order to rebell in society, we have to believe there is a box of some sorts, a standard or a role that we can reject. The objective is not necessarily to reject it, it is to break it down and make it our own. What we want to do is to modify the box itself, modify society's vision.

IV
Of course we cannot completely annihilate the current state of our arts and relationships, even if we did, there would be an echo. A faint memory of what we used to be. Some great writers and artists will remain great no matter what changes we bring. No one can deny Van Gogh's talent after all. Our hope is that we remain. After being told by the older generations that we're idealistic, that we can't get what we want in the cold cruel world they have built, we ask ourselves why? Why did we build a world where it is impossible for humans to feel content and complete? Why couldn't we make it so that we could get what we want? Now we have the ruins of our parents' lives to work with. We have to sort out the stains they put on our existence before rebuilding our own. Maybe our generation won't even see the finished product, but we're going to initiate the process.

V
Pulp;

A soft shapeless mass of matter.

It is who we are, the pulp of this society. We are not violent or insistent; we are determined. We are soft and not eager to fight. We are shapeless because the ways of our expression are so wide that we cannot categorize it. We are a peaceful but stubborn generation that believes it deserves more than what it gets. We are a mass of matter, a mass of art, a mass of ideas and concepts and new visions. We are a set of individuals that forms a whole. We are the changes that need to and will happen in our lives and everyone else's. We are what will change the world one day.
