"The Mandela Effect", coined by Fiona Broome, is when someone has a vivid memory of something being or happening however never happened in this reality. Many of us, often strangers, recall the exact same memories and the same events nonetheless according to history books and newspaper archives the memories many of us recall are seen as wrong. Well isn't that weird. Look at some examples down below:
Does the Monopoly Man, Rich Uncle Pennybags, wear a monocle? - This one actually blew my mind. Many people remember playing Monopoly with their family and Rich Uncle Pennybags with a monocle sitting on his eye. As a matter of fact, the Monopoly guy is monocle-less. Yes! It's true...
"Mirror, Mirror On The Wall" - This line from Snow White is probably one of the most famous lines in any Disney movie ever. It's on clothes, mugs and other types of merchandise and has been referred back to in other shows and films. There is even a Snow White spin off film released in 2012 that was called "Mirror Mirror" after the famous line the witch said. What if I told you we were all remembering it wrong? No, that wasn't a typo. It isn't "mirror mirror on the wall." In the film, they say "magic mirror on the wall." I have never met a person who remembers it this way. I even remember watching Snow White recently and I've always remembered it as "Mirror, mirror on the wall" Why would there be so much merchandise that says "mirror mirror", a spin off film with that name, and most of the world remembering this certain line if it never was "Mirror Mirror on the Wall"?
"Luke, I Am Your Father" - This popular line from Star Wars is one of the most well known lines from a film in all of film history. It has been stamped onto nearly every kind of merchandise and was quoted by Darth Vader. Although I don't watch much of Star Wars, I recall watching this scene very clearly, as other people also do. "Luke, I am your father" is an extremely iconic line. Well, according to the film today, Darth Vader most definitely does NOT say that. He, in fact, says "No, I am your father". Crazy, right?! Yeah, I thought so too...
"We Are The Champions Of The World" - You know the song by Queen that was played at every sporting event ever when you were young? How do you remember the ending?
Here's how I, and many others, remember it: "We are the champions (beat, beat) of the world"
Whenever I used to play football in my lunch break, at school, my team and I would run back to class singing (or screeching) "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS... OF THE WORLD!"
Here's how it apparently ends: "We are the champions..." and does not end with "of the world" It drives people insane because many people clearly recall the song ending differently.Curious George - Finally, remember the friendly little monkey cartoon who would have amazing adventures with the man in the yellow hat with his cute, little tail dragging behind him...
WRONG!
Curious George never had a tail... I mean, what kind of monkey has no tail?
