19. Aaron

G R A Y | POV

"Gray, your phone's buzzing."

I hear Addison's light voice say from the other side of the console. We're driving home from school, and I'm just happy that it's Friday. I'm just ready to spend my weekend in peace.

"Okay, can you answer it and put it on speaker?" I ask, not wanting to be distracted while driving. We don't need another accident....

"Sure." As soon as she speaks the words, I hear a voice that I haven't heard in a while.

"Gray!" He shouts, making Addison flinch in her seat a little. I laugh and respond.

"Aaron! What's up man? Say hey to Addy, you're on speaker."

"Ahhh the infamous Addison. Hi."

"Hey, Aaron," she replies.

"Dude, you never call me. You okay?" I ask, jokingly.

"Yeah I just got excited. So listen. Are you both listening?"

"Yes," Addison and I say together.

"Okay, so you know how this weekend is a long weekend, like we don't have to go to school on Monday," we respond with a yes. "Well, I was gonna ask, is it okay if I come down and stay with you a couple of nights? My parents want to go down to New Orleans for the weekend and I don't feel like being alone since Lauren's going with them and-"

"Dude, it's fine. You know you can stay anytime, just let my mom know," I cut him off.

Addison's wanted to meet Aaron ever since I first told her about him. I've mentioned him in a ton of stories. So, I'm kind of glad he's coming down from McIntosh. It's only about an hour drive, but I know haven't gone to visit him, and he hasn't been down here since I moved.

"Oh no, I already talked to your mom she's fine with it," he says. "But, uh, I just got off the Mobile exit and I kind of need your address." I stifle a laugh but it sounds more like a snort. Addy gives me a short side-eye and laughs back.

"Pull over and hang up so I can text it to you," she says, smiling, even though Aaron can't see it. He agrees and I let her text him my address because, again, I'm driving. We reach home and I know Aaron will be here soon, and I'm really excited to see him and have him meet Addison.

After Addy and I straighten up my house a little, I hear a loud knock on my front door and I know exactly who it could be, and I'm ready to see him. I open the large wooden door, to see the messy brown hair of my best buddy back home.

Aaron Ridley.
