•Nick's POV•

It was now around ten o'clock. I was in the park with some of the guys.
"Where did you guys got this shit? It's so good." I said while taking another puff.
"Some guy, Joey I think, he gave it to us. Said it was a gift." One of the guys said.
"I hate that guy. Never take something from him again." I said harshly.

I really hate that guy. If it wasn't for him I'd still be with Brook now. She would've never hated me like she does now. And all of this, all this hate is because I decided to protect her. Tonight I was drinking and smoking to forget about my problems but they didn't want to go away. I knew that at some point I'm going to have to face them. So let's start right now.

Brook hates me because she thinks I've been in Joey's gang since the beginning. But she's so wrong. And it's killing me! Because if she knew the fucking truth I would still be with her. Except if she wanted to break up because I was in Joey's gang. The thing is that after Brook and I talked, I saw how scared she was and I didn't want her to leave so I went to Joey.

I went to a tree and punched it with all my strength. It hurt but I didn't care. I needed to get this anger out. I miss her so damn much...
That's it I'm going to her place.

•Brook's POV•

I helped Dylan clean up and left him alone so that he could rest since he was falling asleep. He kept telling me he wanted to tell me what Nick told him but he also kept on falling asleep. I guess he'll text me when he wakes up. Anyway tomorrow is the trip so we'll talk then.
I took a shower and decided to get ready to go to bed. I had already packed a few days ago and already prepared my outfit for tomorrow. So I just had to sleep and rest. When I was about to fall asleep someone knocked on the door. I groaned and went to open it thinking it was Ty or my parents (they forget their keys often).

"Nick?" I was shocked to see him.
"Brook please let me talk to you. I have to explain something. Please!" He begged.
"Fine." I said and let him in.
"Were you crying?" I asked noticing his red eyes. "Or smoking?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Both." He said and I sighed.
I noticed him looking at my thighs since my pyjamas consisted of really short shorts and a baggy T-shirt.
"I'll be back." I said and went upstairs.

Once I was done changing I opened my door and he fell to the floor since he was sitting with his back against my door.
"Gosh Nick are you okay?" I asked and he lost his balance while standing up.
"I'm fine." He came in my room and sat on my bed. I followed him after I gave him a bottle of water from my desk.
"Brook." He looked me in the eyes and it was intense between us.
"Y-yeah?"
"I love you." He blurted out.
"No. Now get out." I said and pointed to my door. He can't love me for real, can he?
"I won't get out until I'm done saying what I have to say."
"Fine." I sighed.

•Nick's POV•

"I love you Brook and I mean it. The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt you. Listen, I wasn't in Joey's gang since the beginning.

*Flashback*

It was the day after you told me about Joey. I had been following him for half an hour now and he was getting close to a big house, probably their gang house. After he went inside I waited for about ten minutes and rang the doorbell. A guy opened the door.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"I'm Nick. I'm here to see Joey." I said coldly.
"Wow wow, do you know who he is?"
"Yeah, he's the leader and I'm here to see him. Tell him I have an offer." I said annoyed.
"How did you know we were here?" He asked.
"I guessed a big gang like his must be in different cities, not only in New York." I tried lying.
"Yeah sure. My bad." He went inside and closed the door behind him.  He totally bought it. Well I was probably right.
After a few minutes, he opened the door and told me to come in. I followed him and he took me to Joey's office (I guessed) and he left. I knocked on the door, he yelled to come in and so I did.
"Nick! Long time no see." He said sarcastically.
"Look I'm here because I have an offer for you. What if I join your gang and you leave Brook alone." I said hoping he would accept.
"Okay." He said and continued whatever he was doing on his laptop.
"Like that? Okay? That easily?" I asked as he looked at me again.
"I saw how you fight so I know you've had experience in this field." He looked back at his laptop. As I was heading out of his office he told me to wait and gave me a black bandana from one of his desk drawer.
"Whenever we go as a gang you have to wear it. And I'll let you tell Brook yourself about it but you won't have much time. Also, there may be unexpecting things happening but don't tell me I didn't warn you. You can leave now." He explained and I left without saying a word.

How am I going to tell Brook? I don't want her to breakup with me.

*End of flashback*

That's the truth Brook. I'm not saying we should get back together but maybe give it a chance? It was going so well between us Brook." I finished and noticed she had watery eyes.

"You're lying. You're just high and drunk as fuck. You don't know what you're saying. Now get the hell out before I call Dylan." She said as tears started running down her cheeks.
"Brook I swear I would never lie to you. I swear it's the truth. You have to believe me." I said calmly.
"Nick! You wanted to do the right thing, yet you managed to hurt me! You fuckin' lied to my face and never fuckin' said anything about it!! Why??! Why didn't you tell me? Not to hurt me right? Right???"
"Yeah." I mumbled.
"Well you hurt me even more by not telling me. You keep hurting me even if it's the last thing you wanted to do. And I probably keep hurting you too. So look I'm sorry but we'll never work out together. Now please leave. I wanna sleep before the trip." She had calmed down a bit. But I still wasn't done talking.

"Brook. I love you. And I would do anything to be with you. Or even to have the slightest chance of being with you. Just tell me what I have to do so you can trust me again. Please." I said becoming weaker and weaker.
"I just can't." She said and took a deep breathe.
I held her hand and put my other hand on her thigh. She flinched but got over it.
"Try? Please?" I asked.
"I don't know." She mumbled and looked down. I removed my hand from her thigh and put it under her chin to lift her head up and make her look into my eyes. I slowly leaned in, at first she stayed still but when she noticed what I was doing she parted her lips and also leaned in. Once our lips slightly brushed, we started kissing and our lips moved in sync. I've missed her so damn much. I've missed the feeling I get in my stomach when we kiss.
After a while we broke the kiss and were breathing heavily.
"I've missed you." I said kissing her neck.
"I've missed you too." She said weakly.
I kept on kissing her neck and sucking at different spots.
"Nick, stop." She said still breathing heavily.
I did as I was told and kissed her cheek.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I smiled and got up.
"Wait." She paused. "Do you wanna spend the night?" She asked.
"What about your parents?"
"They don't need to know. Plus you'll have to leave early to take your suitcases for the trip.
"Okay then." I smiled and laid next to her.
"Thank you for protecting me. Thank you for fighting for us. Thank you for everything." She said and put her arms around me. I did the same and we quickly fell asleep.
