The next morning at school, I couldn't help but have the feeling that someone was watching me. It also didn't help that we had a pop quiz in math either. When I was walking to my third period class, Dallas was walking next to me.
"I feel like somebody's watching me..." I told him, glancing around quickly. He looked at me weirdly before also looking around. He looked ahead again.
"I don't see any suspicious activity... I mean, there's a new kid, but nothing else... that's probably why you feel uncomfortable." He brushed it off before turning into his class while I kept walking to mine. I went to sit down next to Charlie. She gave me a smile before telling me a story of funny thing happened in her last class. I was listening when there was a gasp and someone walked into the room. I look at the front of the room to see a guy. By the look of him, he was new, and obviously confident in himself, but the way he was surveying the room, made me uncomfortable. When his eyes landed on me, his eyes widened and then he looked away. I tilted my head, confused and turned away, looking at charlie who was nudging me.
"What?" I hissed, looking sharply at her. She was staring the the guy.
"Who is he? He's so cute!" She giggled. I smiled. I couldn't be mad at her.
"Couldn't you just have said that instead of bruising my ribs?" I said and she looked at me with a blush."Sorry. But he's new! Oh. I feel bad for him.... coming in the middle of the year? Ugh. I would hate that..." She said, now looking sadly at the guy. I sighed and turned to face the front.
"OKAY! Listen up guys. We have a new student. What to introduce yourself?" The teacher, also known as Mr. Smith / Mr. S/ Brian, my uncle. The boy looked around one more time before saying,
"I'm Mason Charles. I moved here from Arizona. I have two siblings, An older brother and a younger sister. Don't underestimate me. Can I sit down now?" He turned to Mr. Smith, who nodded and pointed to the seat next to me. I looked down.
"You can sit next to Angel. She'll share her notes with you for the time being. Right, Angel?" Mr. Smith asked, and I looked up, with a small smile and a nod.
"Yes of course, Brian. It would be my absolute pleasure." I sassed, making him laugh.
"No more sass, young lady.I may be your uncle, but I am still your teacher." He rolled his eyes. Mason sat next to me, and I looked down, scooting a little closer to him and putting out my notes so he could see them. We didn't even talk and I didn't look at him, yet I felt his gaze whenever he looked at me. Soon the class ended and I booked it out of there, Charlie at my heels.
"What was that?" She asked. I looked at her, confused.
"What was what?" I tilted my head.
"You don't know?" She asked, right when I was about to respond, there was the sound of a body smashing into the lockers. I whirled around, to see Mason standing up while Liam was standing in front of him, a snarl on his face. I sighed before quickly grabbing Liam's ear and Mason's arm. Mason tried to get out of my grip, but failed, multiple times.
"What's wrong with you two? What are you shoving people Liam! Cut it out! And Mason, don't piss him off. I don't know you, but I can tell what your like, and I don't care. Now. Scurry along to your next class. I pushed Mason away from me and let go of Liam. He glared at me. I looked back at him, in a bored manner.
"Stop getting involved in my fights! For God's sake! Fuck off!" He growled shoving me. After a couple steps back, I shrugged.
"Well. When you're expelled from starting a fight, don't blame me!" I glared back and walked off to my next class, getting into my seat with a huff. Once the bell for lunch rang, I bolted outside and to the tree where i always had lunch. I climbed the tree, and leaned back on the trunk, once I reached a good branch to sit on. I heard people talking, and I stayed silent, taking a bite out of my apple.
"-and then she like, slapped her! Like-how rude is that!" The voice of gossiping girls walked past, me and I silently laughed. Ah, the simple pleasures of life. I continued eating my apple and glanced down at my phone, only to see someone sit against the trunk of the tree.
"Hey. Bucco. Tree's taken."I called out, making the guy jump and look up.
"Seriously Angel? Can't a guy just sit without being reprimanded for once? Or now, twice?" Liam grumbled.
"Someone's in a mood..." I noted, and continued to eat my apple.
"What's up with you climbing trees anyways?" LIam asked, switching topics. I shrugged.
"I just like it. It's fun, and you have a better angle to view everything by, I guess." I looked down at him.
"Why is Mason coming over?" He asked.
"I don't know." I responded with a shrug.
"What do you want, Charles?" Liam grumbled.
"Nothing. I was wondering if you know where we go to get food...you are literally the only person I've talked to all day. So if you don't mind, it would be a big help." Mason said, looking at Liam in the eye.
"Never look an animal in the eye, it might take it as a threat and attack." I called out, making Mason look up quickly,
"Oh Gods. Please give me a heart attack." Mason said sarcastically. I shrugged. Liam mocked Mason, making me smile a little.
"Seriously?" Mason glared at Liam.
"Okay. The cafeteria is in that building," I pointed,
"And I recommend you find somewhere out here to eat, it's a hell hole in there." I added, glancing at Liam, who was glaring at Mason. Mason nodded and said thanks before going over.
"What's your deal with him?" I asked. Liam looked up at me.
"I just don't like him. He walks around like he owns the place." Liam said.
"So confidence is a bad thing? Or are you afraid he'll take over your role as king of the school?" I teased, making Liam rolls his eyes.
"There you two are." Charlie sighed, Dallas following her.
"Hey you two." I smiled. Dallas fist bumped Liam before sitting down next him, and Charlie sat down across from them. I dangled my feet down from the tree, uncrossing them.
"What were you guys talking about?' Charlie asked, starting to eat her lunch.
"Mason Charles. Liam here, doesn't like the -and I qoute- way he walks around like he owns the place." I giggle, making Mason glare at me. Charle looked up at me, with a small smile, before making doe eyes at my brother. I sighed.
"Charlie." I said, making her look at me. I raised an eyebrow at her, and she playfully glared at me.
"Stop." She whined, making me laugh. The boys gave us confused looks, before shrugging and continuing having their conversation, which I didn't give any mind. My Uncle, walked up to us.
"Hello you guys and gals. Can I borrow Angel here for a moment?" He asked, looking at all of us, and I stood up, following him a few steps away.
"What's up? Is anything wrong?" I asked, looking at him and around us.
"Nothing to worry about. I was wondering if you could tuder a student for me. He isn't understanding my class that much and I know you can help him. Would you mind tutoring him?" He asked, and I nodded.
"Of course! All I need is the details. Other than that, i'm all set." I said, with a smile. Uncle Brian smiled at me and walked me back to my friends, and Liam. Liam was my brother's friend. Not mine.
"Again. Thank you Angel. I appreciate it." He said one more time before walking off. I got right back to eating again.
"What did Uncle Brian want?" Dallas asked.I shrugged and mumbled 'tutoring'. Dallas nodded and quickly glanced at Charlie who was playing with grass. I stood up, brushing off the dirt and dust off of my pants.
"Okay. I'm off. The bell will ring in like three minutes." I said, grabbing my bag and turning to leave. There was a shuffling of feet besides me and Liam appeared besides me, walking next to me into school, and then departing down another hallway.
That boy is up to something. I thought to myself, only to bush the thought aside when the bell rung and I started walking to my Math class._*_*_*_
