I'm not the best at action scenes... But I think I did pretty good. What do you guys think?

Chapter Five

(Reese)

As the rest of the day passed by, I sat in all my classrooms with Lucy, staring at her unashamedly and still wondering about the man. What did he want with her? I could barely control my wolf. I mean, it's natural, I suppose. My other friends had immediately mated with their girls after they stared at each other. Then they finally got to know each other.

But personally, I think that's a little too risky and blind trusting. What if your mate turned out to be a bitch? You'd never be able to have the heart to get rid of her after you've connected. Literally, connected. So, I wasn't going to take the chance with Lulu, although I knew she had a heart of gold.

That's what they all say before they mate. They just "know" their mate has a heart of gold, you hypocrite, Damien my wolf scolded.

Technically, you called yourself a hypocrite, wolfie, I scowled.

Although I couldn't "see" it, I knew he was rolling his eyes. Wolfie... Why did I get stuck with you? Why did my lovely mate get stuck with you? I heard him oh-so-loudly muttering to himself. Now shut up and go back to staring at my - uh, our - mate!

Now that I could totally live with. So I did as told. I knew she was slightly bothered by my stare since I was doing it so clearly. Seeing Lulu squirm made me squirm as well. I admit, she's sexy.

Whipped! Damien shouted in my mind.

You're no better, I replied.

My thoughts drifted back towards what I was thinking earlier. Another reason why I didn't immediately... well... mate Lulu was because I wanted our first time together to be special. More than a closet. Also, I knew she wouldn't take it well if I assaulted her. I was still the enemy. So was she. But we would work it out. Right?

Now I just need to tell her to stop flipping her hair. It's making me eager, and Damien impatient. Ugh! I feel like she knows her effect on me and is doing it purposely. Tyler glanced at me from the corner of his eye, and it slowly drew back to the new girl. I growled at him when he continued to stare.

Back off.

Jeez! Fine! Whatever.

Damien and I smirked at the cowering Tyler and his wolf. He was our best friend, but he needed to know he cannot just stare at my mate. If he wants an angry alpha, I'll give it to him. And it sure won't be purrrty.

All too late, the bell to end the last class was ringing. Lulu continued to sit in her seat, watching everyone else go. I stayed back as well. When the teacher gave us looks of disgust, I knew what she was thinking, and she hurried out. No, I wasn't going to do that. My words were more so towards convincing me instead. My eyes flicked back to Lulu, who glanced back up.

"Hey, do you have a place to stay?" I grumbled shyly. After what she had told me before, I was really shy, which was unusual for my regular cocky alpha-self. As Lulu stared at me, I watched the oh-so-interesting ground and shifted my feet.

"Yeah..." Her tiny voice whispered in my ear. I shivered. Damn beautiful vampire mates.

"OK... Do you want me to drive you there," I stated. It wasn't a question. I was going with her, with or without her permission. Not all of my wolves are generally happy with vampires, and I had to keep her a secret for now from the pack. But I was still going to protect her, and making sure she got home safely was part of the job. Also, the job of being an excellent mate, or in her case, beloved.
