“Where’s my other earring?” I yelled at my friend Riley.
“I don’t fucking know!” he yelled back. “Where’s the mascara?”
“Up your ass,” I mumbled under my breath.
“That’s just where I like it,” Riley retorted, appearing beside me and making me jump.
I finished putting my makeup on and found my other earring behind my nightstand table.
“I still can’t believe Stella gave us passes to go to White Ink. I almost peed in my pants!”
“I know,” Riley agreed. “White Ink is the most prestigious club out there. Every band hangs out there.” I jumped up and down.
“Maybe we’ll get to meet Vic!” I squealed. Riley freaked out.
“Or Alex Gaskarth!”
“Ok, ok,” I said, trying to calm down, “once-overs. Go.”
I had put on my Jeffrey Campbell litas to make myself look taller. I’m five-foot-one, so they added lots of inches. I had on the Storm In The Air dress from Modcloth and simple diamond studs. My hair cascaded down my back in loose, dark blue waves. I had a purple streak in my bangs.
Riley, on the other hand, had on dark ray bans and his white-blond hair was spiked stiff. He was wearing white jeans so skinny I’m surprised his balls didn’t pop off. He had on a tight black denim shirt vest and black converse high tops. He had small, white gauges in and his makeup was flawless.
“You look amazeballs,” I said with a hint of envy.
“Oh please, bitch,” Riley scoffed with a toss of his head. “You’re the fucking queen.”
We laughed and I grabbed my purse, my phone, our passes, and two hundred bucks. I stuck my money in my bra so no one would steal it.
“Ready?” I asked.
“Let’s do this,” Riley said.

We arrived at the club a half hour before midnight. We skipped the line full of underage teenagers with fake IDs and handed the huge bouncer our passes. We were in.
“I’m dying,” I said, trying to maintain my composure.
“Be calm,” Riley said, but he had a crazy look in his eye.
The inside of White Ink was just as it would be described- everything white. The clubbers are required to wear black and white at all times. All the drinks had black food coloring in them, and all the food was somehow dyed white. I had no idea how they did it, but it’s the most expensive club in the country.
Riley and I walked around cautiously on the second floor. The view was amazing. Everyone looked like black and white polka dots on the dance floor below. Riley got us black sprite and we sat at the bar.
“I’d like to propose a toast, Riley shouted, “to my beautiful friend Drew Violet Alexander! Congratulations on your fucking eighteenth birthday, whore!” To my surprise, everyone raised their glasses and drank- to me. I blushed, blowing kisses and basking in glory.
“How did you get them to do that?” I asked Riley incredulously once he sat back down.
“Babe, I’m a god,” he said, and I flicked him on the nose and we both laughed.
“Celeb-spotting time!” I said. “Go.”
“There’s Andy Leo,” Riley suddenly said, pointing. There he was, laughing about something Vic Fuentes had said.
“And Alex Gaskarth,” I squealed.
“Be calm,” Riley said again, barely breathing. “They’re just normal people.”
“With the voices and appearances of gods,” I added.
“I have to go meet Alex,” Riley said. I sighed.
“Okay,” I said, downing my drink, “let’s go.”
We went back downstairs, trying our best to squeeze between sweaty bodies and high-heel clad dancers that were clearly in the zone.
I waited patiently while Riley surprisingly calmly chatted with Alex. I turned my back to them for a second, surveying the crowd. I saw Austin Carlile, my hero, standing by himself. He had huge glasses on, a beanie, and a long sleeved shirt that covered his tattoos, but I knew it was him. It was like a miracle. I just had to meet the guy who saved my life twice over.
Once I was near him, a group of three girls surrounded him suddenly. I recognized one as Gielle Hellevig, his ex-wife.
“What do you think you’re doing here?” one of Gielle’s snobby friends demanded.
“It’s a club,” Austin said. He sounded tired, but my knees still went weak at the sound of his voice. “I just wanted to hang out and have a drink.”
“Do you think this is fucking over?” Gielle’s other friend snapped. “She can ruin you.” Austin tried to leave, but Gielle pushed him back against the wall.
“You’re not going anywhere,” she slurred smugly, obviously drunk out of her mind.
The spot where we were, no guards or anyone could see what was happening.
“Gielle,” Austin said wearily. “Please, leave me alone. Just this once, get a life and move on!” Gielle gasped and stumbled closer to him, a demonic glint in her eye.
“You know you still fucking want me!” Gielle screeched, poking his chest with her perfectly manicured index finger. “You lit up my pussy like nobody else!” I made a drastic, split moment decision.
I shoved in between Gielle’s friends and planted myself in front of Austin.
“Fucking leave him alone,” I snarled.
Gielle and her friends just stared for a second, then started laughing hysterically.
“Aw, how cute,” she said. “He has a little pet.”
“Get the fuck away from him,” I hissed. “You’re a slut, Gielle. You have more bullshit coming out your mouth then you have hair coming out your scalp. You’re fake and no one likes you but these two idiots,” I said, gesturing to her friends. “I bet no one would think you’re pretty if you took off that Halloween mask you call your face. Go to hell before I rip your extensions out!”
Gielle slapped me. Before I could react, she lunged at me, French tips extended, but I saw it coming and ducked. I brought my high heel firmly up, slamming it into her, even though I didn’t see where. All I heard was freakishly loud, freakishly high pitched screaming, and, amid the chaos, I tripped and hit my head hard on the marble statue in front of me. All I saw after that was the fuzzy movements of Austin trying to pick me up, and then everything went black.
