I insisted on leaving right then and there, but Austin actually wanted me to stay.

“I don’t want to irritate you,” I said, hesitating.

“It’s okay,” Austin reassured me. “I get bored here by myself. We don’t even have to stay here if you want. We can go other places.”

“I’m just a silly fan,” I said, looking at the floor. “You wouldn’t wanna hang out with me all day.” Austin came close to me and lifted my chin.

“My fans are my family. Each and every one of them means the world to me. I’d love to spend the day with you, Drew. Keep me company.” His fingertips sent chills running through my body.

“Okay,” I whispered, then said it louder. “Okay. I’ll spend the day with you.”

Austin grinned and I tried not to sink to my knees.

Austin’s POV

I was so stoked about spending time with Drew, even if she doesn’t think so. I even turned my phone off so our day would be uninterrupted. I mean, anyone else would think it’s weird because we literally just met, and I’m eight years older than her, but it just feels right to me.

She’s so beautiful. Her hair goes all the way down to that perky ass. She could almost sit on it if she wanted to. It’s such a dark, murky shade of blue. She’s so short and adorable looking, but she carries herself like the mature adult she is. And her eyes. Her eyes drive me fucking crazy. They’re so green, like grass in the springtime. Or emeralds. There’s just something about her. I can’t let her go. Not now.

I bought three outfits for myself total, I figured that’s all I would need for one day. Austin offered to buy me clothes, but his presence alone was priceless. I used the two hundred bucks I had in my bra. Once Austin and I were back in the hotel room I changed into blue skinny capris and white high tops with a Crown the Empire crop top I found at Hot Topic.

I’m  slowly getting used to Austin. He’s just a normal human, like me. Even so, every time my hand brushed against his or our skin made contact I held my breath. He just seems to be so distant. I mean, it’s understandable. All of this happened so fast. I just wished he would tell me what’s wrong. Well then again, I’m not sure a rock star would tell a me his problems.

After leaving the hotel, Austin drove me to White Ink to get my stuff back in his bright green Camaro that he named Lucy. It was so weird seeing the club lit up in the daytime and so empty. The bouncer found my purse for me, and thankfully, everything was intact.

I had 37 missed messages from Riley from the night before. I called him and told him I’d got my stuff back and that I was spending the day with Austin. He happily replied that he had been at Alex’s house the whole day and they were hanging out too. Ooh, someone has a boyfriend.

Austin and I were driving around, looking for a good place to get something to eat. I had been talking, but I’d eventually stopped because I knew he wasn’t listening. His mind was elsewhere.

“Can you take me home?” I asked him. He shook his head, pushing his thoughts away.

            “Huh?”

“Just take me home,” I said, exasperated. “I’m not trying to be mean, but if you’re gonna be like this the whole day then I’d rather stay home.”

He just stared, then after a while pulled the car over to the side of the road.

He put his head on the steering wheel, then ran his fingers through his hair and pressed his thumbs to his temples. “I’m sorry,” he said.

“It’s not your fault,” I said. “If you have shit on your mind then-“

“I’m sorry, Drew. I’ve just been through a lot in the past few months. I’m trying, just bear with me.” He looked in my eyes. “I don’t want you to go. You’re a fucking gnarly person and I’m sorry if I’m being distant.”

My heart melted. Of course. Austin was probably so used to Gielle and her big bubble of fake, he hadn’t had any real friends in a while. That’s what I was going to at least try to be. Austin’s real friend. Even though I was undoubtedly in love with him.
