Ponyboys P.O.V.

The words hit me like a boulder. Alexis could've DIED! She was willing to do that for Johnny. I never would've been able to do something like that. Never in my life. Even if it was Johnny, and for that I feel horrible. I decided to talk to her. "What are you doing?" Soda asked. "I'm going to go talk to her." I replied. I knocked on her door. "Come in." Alexis said. I turned the knob and pushed the door open. "Hey Pony." She said sitting on the bed. "Why did you do that?" I asked her. "What?" "Protect Johnny like that." I said. "Because when was the last time you saw him do something wrong. His parents beat him for no reason. He doesn't need Socs beating him too." She replied. I figured out one thing that I should've known before. Johnny thought know one cared.

Johnnys P.O.V.

I went to the lot to sleep because there was no way I was heading home. To much bottle throwing and bloodshed. Knowing Dally got into jail again, I knew no one was there to protect me, besides Alexis. I settled down by the campfire pit and soon sleep over came me. Coming like a black curtain that took me away from the world.

(DREAM)

Alexis and I were walking around the neighborhood. My cuts hadn't healed from my parents, and Alexis had a huge scratch from her last fight with the Socs. Suddenly, a corvair was trailing behind us. The Socs hopped out and headed straight for me! I started crying for help. The Soc swung his blade. I braced for impact but instead felt myself being pushed out of the way. I fell to the ground. The Socs ran away. I looked up to see Alexis on the ground holding her face. Blood seeping out from her now cut neck. I stood there in utter shock. Then she stopped moving. No! I gasped as the realization hit me. They had killed MY BEST FRIEND! I crawled over to her lifeless body. "Please Alexis! Don't leave me here alone. No one cares but you. PLEASE don't go PLEASE!" I screamed. I tried calling for Darry, Soda, or even Ponyboy. But no one came. No was there to witness what I had just witnessed. I cried and cried and cried.

(END OF DREAM)

I woke up breathing so hard I thought I was going to faint. It was morning and I could hear the birds chirping. What if that dream comes true!? I don't know what I'd do without Alexis. I would be nothing. There would be no one who cared about me. Today was Saturday so I ran to the Curtis house. I burst through the door. "Johnny are you okay?"Ponyboy asked eating his breakfast. "I don't know anymore." I said.

3rd P.O.V.

"Did you have a bad dream or something?" Soda asked. "More or less." Johnny said. To be honest he didn't know if it was a dream or not. He was still visibly shaking."What was it about?" Ponyboy asked. "The Socs.....they.... they.....they...k-k" Johnny couldn't finish his sentence. "Johnny calm down." Darry said. Johnny then fainted falling back onto the couch. "Ponyboy get a wet washcloth. Hurry!" Darry ordered. Ponyboy nodded and got the washcloth. Darry placed it on Johnnys forehead. "That dream must have been pretty serious for him to faint." Soda pointed out. Alexis came walking out of her room. She gasped when she saw Johnny laying on the couch with the washcloth on his head.

"What the heck happened? Is he okay!?" She asked worriedly. "Yeah he's fine. He said he had a bad dream but before he could tell us he fainted." Darry explained. Johnny started to stir. "Come on. Wake up Johnny." Alexis said. Johnny let out a yelp when he saw Alexis. "You're alive?!" Johnny said questionly. Alexis looked puzzled. "Why wouldn't I be?" She asked. Th - they k-k - killed YOU. The Socs cut your neck." Johnny said. He passed out once more. "Must have been what happened in the dream."Ponyboy said. "Why would he be so upset if they killed me?" Alexis asked. "We'd all be upset, but maybe he thinks it was his fault." Soda suggested.

"I don't know, but let's just stop worrying about it now." Alexis said. Soda and Darry had work so Ponyboy and Alexis were home alone. Johnny was still passed out on the couch. "Ponyboy, what was your last dream of mom and dad like?" Alexis asked. Ponyboy let out a sigh. "Well they were driving in the car and Dad was comforting Mom about us being home alone. The next thing I saw was their car being slammed into a another semi truck. Then I woke up." Ponyboy looked down at the floor. Alexis could see the glint of tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry I asked Pony." Alexis apologized. She went over to him and gave him a hug. He hugged back.

Johnny woke up and was breathing normally again. "Johnny, you alright?" Ponyboy asked. "Yeah I'm fine, just a little shaken up." Johnny replied. "I'm gonna see a movie alright." Ponyboy announced. He walked out the door. Johnny started to cry. "I don't know how I'm gonna keep on livin like this Lexi." He said. Alexis pulled him into a side hug. "Please don't leave me here Lexi." Johnny begged. "Johnny I can tell you one thing I ain't gonna leave you ever." Alexis replied smiling. Johnny dried his eyes. Alexis took her arm off Johnny. Two bit ran in through the door. "HEY SODA, STEVE, AND DARRY ONLY HAVE HALF DAYS TODAY!!" He shouted.

Alexis went to the kitchen to make some chocolate cake. "Hey Johnny, you doing okay?" Two bit asked. "I doing fine, could be better." Johnny replied. They talk for a couple hours, eating the chocolate cake Alexis had made. Until suddenly they all heard screams and shouts.
