AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hi guys, it seems that there was some problem with the previous chapter (I blame the gods of internet connection) so if you found the last chapter a bit weird, I've tried to fix it so feel free to reread it again :) Sorry for this hehe /: enjoy!

Previously on Her Safe Haven: Seth Connor — Winter's best friend who used to (?) have a crush on her in primary school — reminded Winter that there would be the first student council meeting of the year that morning. They then proceeded to walk towards school morning assembly with Gray and his friends, Kai Ren and Jonah (who was revealed to also have a crush on Winter).

"I'm thinking of asking her out."

Gray glanced sideways and smirked. "Oh?"

"It's been too long," a sigh.

From the corner of his eyes, Gray could see Dylan's eyes searching the hall for the familiar brown hair. Gray couldn't help but scoff lightly. "You think?"

Dylan frowned. The principal had been reciting his Welcome Back speech non-stop for the last eleven-minutes-and-nineteen-seconds, and Dylan Choi was not one with a long attention span. He couldn't help but zone off.

And Riley just happened to be on the top of his mind that morning.

"She's having council meeting after this," Gray said, his eyes fixed on the principal while his head was not really quite following his eyes.

"So I heard. Is that kid coming?"

"Him, and another two. They are siblings, I heard."

"What was his name again? Ro... Romeo? Ro something—"

"It's Rohan," Jonah chimed in. "President of Dews High's Student Council, and heir of the Garrison Group. The other two are both seniors — and yes, they are siblings," he said, leaning forward to speak to Gray and Dylan in front of him.

"Why would Dews High send siblings as their representatives?" Gray said, turning slightly to look at Jonah, "and all three of them are in the Student Council?"

"Their father owns the school, so that automatically reserves them a place in the Student Council," the blond explained, "not that anyone would complain though, they're quite popular with the students. They're coming here to talk about Sponsorship."

Gray rolled his eyes. "Sponsorship? Like Lakeside's not rich enough already."

"It's a huge event, Gray. You know it," Jonah frowned.

Dylan squinted his eyes as he caught glimpse of a certain brown-haired girl far in front of him. "How great. Now please tell me she's not an escort."

Jonah laughed and slapped Dylan's back lightly. "Hahaha! I can't tell you that for sure, though. We'll discuss it after this... boring assembly," he pouted.

"Alright, the first meeting of the year is now in session!"

There was a loud sound of a small hammer being knocked thrice on the table.

A groan. "Jonah, for the last time, quit the hammer. This is not a court."

He grinned sheepishly at her, "hehe, sorry, Rose."

Rose sighed, tucking a lock of her short hair behind her ear. "Alright, as Jonah was saying... First of all, I will expect all of you to work hard again this year. Second, as for this year's events —"

While the vice-president, Rose, recited some council technicals, Winter found herself zoning off and observing the rest of the council.

She didn't think she would get elected the first time she ran for the Student Council; being mute and all. But she was elected with more than half the school's vote, and soon the council activities became one of her most anticipated things at school.
