"Okay, so, ladies, I want you to gather up in one place tomorrow night after the rehearsals for a livestream to make an announcement," Jerry said without looking at us, holding an open folder in his hands as he examined the papers it contained. "After seven years of having the strongest and most organized fanbase, I think it's time to give them an award for all the hard work they did—putting you up on charts, voting nonstop for you to win award shows, and supporting you 24/7. They're blessings to you guys and they deserve this project the team just proposed."
"What is it?" Camila asked curiously, causing Jerry to finally meet our eyes as he grinned.
He took six papers out of the folder and slid it across the coffee table between him and us. We took it almost eagerly and scanned the paper he gave.
"Starting your tour, you'll have three lucky fans from the city you're in to spend the day with," Jerry said, making me smile in approval. "You'll be with them before show day. Probably take them out and just enjoy each other's company. How does that sound?"
"That's amazing," Ally said, looking warmly at her father. "I mean, the Midnighters have been through a lot for us. They've always been there."
"But wait," Normani interrupted, holding her own paper. "How do we pick the fans who'll get to spend a day with us?"
"The team thought of a creative way to choose a fan from the internet and they said that we could make some sort of a contest so it would be fair to everyone and it would involve making arts and drawings for you but I disagreed because not all of your fans are creative in that way and what if they are but they just don't have enough budget to create art?"
"But that's the point," Lauren said. "They have to be creative so they can be selected."
"And not all of the Midnighters are artistic," Jerry said gently, smiling at Lauren. "I'm just afraid to upset your fans because they couldn't make something that would possibly make their dream come true. Also, I thought that it would ignite a competition in your fanbase and we don't want your fans fighting against each other now, do you?"
The six of us shook our heads.
"Another suggestion was to let them make a video of their own, telling us why we should choose them but, it would require a lot of work because we all know that there would be a lot of participants so, we agreed on our final option. We made an online form that they'd fill out and it'll be sent to our email address. Now, all we gotta do is pick randomly from the fans who filled out the form. It's basically going to be about luck being on their side and I don't know but I think it'd be more fair to everybody."
"I personally think that that's better," I said, exchanging glances with my bandmates. "We're being considerate with their resources and that's great because they wouldn't work too hard to be chosen. It's basically like applying for some work or something."
"But I thought that it could be fun in some way, you know? Like a dance competition or something," Dinah said, wiggling her shoulders for emphasis as Normani laughed.
