Chapter Three
How to Write Literature Books- Prose, Drama and Poetry
The three types of literature books listed above are called "Genres or Branches" of literature. In this chapter, the author will highlight and briefly explain some of the vital tips on how to write story books and poetry or poetic books.I. Prose: This is a genre or branch of literature that is written and divided into chapters and paragraphs. It is most often written as if somebody is standing before people and telling or narrating a story or event for them to listen. Only to contribution and react in few places, while the major person or character telling the story takes over the stage and continues with the story. However, prose can be written narratively (this is how most prose books are written), descriptively, expository and argumentative (see chapter three of this book to refresh your mind on what the methods are). Prose is usually a story and most times fictional stories (stories composed by a writer that may appear real or true, but are not actually real or true) told in written form to pass a moral lessons, educate readers and at the same time entertain the mind as one reads through the stories.
To come up with an interesting story or to make one's book interesting, there are some tips one needs to know in order to realise that, some of the tips include:
1. How to make Quotes in Prose Books: There are two major ways to make quote in a story book. These quotes have two signs or symbols that are used to represent or indicate them. One of the quotes is when a writer of a book quote his/her characters (mainly, the major or round character(s)) in his/her book and secondly, when a character or characters in a writer's book quote another character or characters in a writer's book. The quote a writer makes of a character or characters in his/her book are indicated or represented with double invited commas open and close ("-open "-close ). And the sign or symbol use in indicating or representing the quote made of a character or characters by another character in a writer's book is single invited comma open and close ('-open 'close).
a. Author's Quote of Characters in his/her Book: This quote is done when a writer directly quote or write what his/her character or characters said in his/her book in a way the character or characters will say the words in real life. For example, let's assume that Nwoko is a writer and writing a story book on Adanna's School Days Experience. It can take the following steps.
Chapter One
Adanna's Reflection on Her School Days
School is a wonderful place one needs to be in a life time, it is only in childhood that one may cry when asked to go to school. However, when the person grows up, he/she will be happy that his/her parents did not look at his/her childish tears and withdrew him/her from school. In the clam afternoon as Adanna was in her office, sitting on her executive chair and having before her executive well furnished and beautiful table. The office was chilled in that hot afternoon by the nice air-condition well fixed in the office. Modern television with inbuilt DVD player was hung on the wall of her office, facing her chair to entertain and update her with the occurrences in the world. The office was built and equipped the way it will give her comfort and make her feel very relaxed and comfortable in her new office for her resent and double promotion.
Being happy and feeling great in such exuberant office, Adanna reflected on her suffering and troublesome school days. She thought of it so much so that she started soliloquizing.
"This life is a mystery, it can punish and at the same time bless. It can cause one agony, sorrow and also brings joy, peace and happiness. It was like yesterday when I felt I will never make it through school, let alone, making it through life to become this wealthy and highly respected by people that I am now the Boss of many people. Indeed, wonders will never end, however, may God be praised, all these are because of His love and grace over the poor me". Adanna said to herself.
