All I really need to understand is

When you talk dirty to me

Talk dirty to me

Talk dirty to me

Talk dirty to me

Get jazzy on it

"Looks like Nikki isn't the only slut around town." Alexander lips inched upwards but they seemed to be struggling against gravity, his eyes looked broody, intense, and almost as dark as the shadows on his cheeks that looked emphasized because he was grinding his teeth together.

"Hey, man. What the-" Davie moved so that his body covered mine, as if to protect me, but I put my hand on his shoulder and interrupted him from walking any closer to Alexander.

I didn't need for a fist fight to erupt in my house, no matter how much I wanted to punch Alexander in the face.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." I smirked and ignored his derogatory comment.

"Doesn't mean they aren't true." Alexander eyed me from head to toe as if to make his point, and then laughed.

"Dude, what the hell is your problem?" Davie pushed his shoulder aggressively.

"David don't." I latched onto his shoulder roughly and pulled him back. "I don't need you to protect me."

Davie was looking at me funnily, probably not understanding why I didn't react to the cruel words, but Alexander understood perfectly and grinned. Despite my wishes and to my utter horror, he knew the game as well as I did. We both knew that if I had lashed out at him it would show I was weak. I couldn't allow him to manipulate my emotions as he had just done with Davie, I had to keep myself calm and collected. My indifference would normally bother the other person more than anything – but since Alexander knew my game, it had no effect on him either.

"Piece of advice, Cross," he took a breath, "don't start fights for a worthless cause." Alexander spoke plainly as he almost seemed to look at Davie with pity in his eyes. "Both of us know she's not worth fighting over."

As he spoke I was sure he had somehow simultaneously managed to punch through my chest and squeeze my heart through his fingers like one would a paint bag, until it exploded. I looked down to my chest and saw that its exterior seemed to be unharmed. So why did I feel the need to keel over in pain?

He must've caused interior damage with some sort of telekinesis. The thought quickly passed through my mind. There's no way this pain is simply emotional.

For minutes, as I stood there for the first time in my life almost feeling empty and valueless, I believed it too.

"What are you doing here?" I asked quickly, wanting him gone as quickly as possible.

Alexander held Davie's gaze for a moment before looking to me.

"Relax, David." He started, as he walked away from the tense atmosphere to the side and picked up a juice that one of my maids had brought apparently in the midst of the heated insults. "I was just teasing her; she likes it when you talk dirty to her, but I'm sure you already know that." Alexander winked at me then laughed at my reaction as my eyes widened and my mind went into a dark magical place where Alexander and I were in a compromising position that would make it appropriate for him "talk dirty" to me. My stomach clenched in excitement and I hated myself for it.
