“Guess who?” I heard Davie’s voice whisper in my ear as he stood very closely behind me, with his hands on my eyes. His breath was very close to my ear, and if it were any other guy I would’ve pushed him away almost immediately for being so overly forward with me.

But since it was Davie I giggled, turned around, and hugged him as I said, “Davie, of course!”

“You’re too good.” He laughed as I slowly let go.

We just finished our second period class, which was Spanish for me, and I was ready to blow my brains out from the unbearable boredom but somehow I survived for our fifteen minute break. Davie caught me just as I was pulling out my P.E. bag and my goldfish snack.

“Well, it was hardly a challenge to identify the boy I’ve known practically since the womb.” I smiled.

“Yeah, well you never know, I have changed quite a bit since my 12 year old days.” He rolled his eyes.

“Yeah, but you still smell the same.”

“A good smell, I hope?” He smiled.

“An excellent smell.” I flashed him back a flirtatious grin.

“Excellent, huh?” His eyes lit up as he very forwardly stepped into my personal space. “Well I am a man of excellent and mature, grown up taste.” He said in a sort of cocky voice, but I laughed and pretended to back away from him as he kept coming closer.

“Well, grow up all you want, but you still smell the cologne your mother would get Nelly to buy for you in the sixth grade.” I pointed out and he replied with an embarrassed smile.

Feeling sort of sorry for causing the sweetest boy in the world pain, I quickly changed the subject when I looked down and noticed he was holding a bag in his hands.

“Oh, you have P.E. now too, Davie?” I giggled as I held the bag I had in my hands and shook it in front of him.

“Oh, well my day just got a whole lot better." Davie grinned.

"And why is that?"

"Because I have P.E. with the prettiest girl in the school.” Davie leaned in as if trying to share a private moment with me.
