"Well, you're a girl, after all."

Connie was visibly surprised to see you there, standing with a fistful of snowball in your hands. Your (f/c) scarf wrapped securely around your small neck as you pouted at him then shake your head. The small boy simply tilted his head, voicing out his confusion and you simply groaned in aggravation.

"I can't understand what is it you want unless you say it so!" Connie, too, loosing a bit impatience.

As a kid, they wouldn't understand, and you knew it. You sadly looked down, tears brimming in the corner of your eyes as Connie panicked a little.

'I just wanted to play with you.'

"H-hey, don't cry! I didn't mean to." He quickly ran over to you, small gloved hands held out for you and you looked up. He nervously smiled, unsure to himself. "So, how about you join me and help me build a snowman? You're not gonna cry again, 'kay?"

Your head snapped and you excitedly bobbed them up and down, agreeing with him. Connie rubbed his head at your actions, raising a one eyebrow. "I don't get you."

Connie would admit you're quiet pretty with those alluring wide (e/c) eyes, ample cheeks that reddened from the cold temperature, small nose, and small lips, and with (h/l) (h/c) mopped hair under your puffy pink bonnet. You're only a new neighborhood of his after your parents moved in few weeks ago, then he already didn't understand you.

You rarely speak out loud and you would frown and cry over something that he couldn't comprehend but, seriously, you guys were only kids, of course you two wouldn't understand such many things. Connie wasn't too smart, you figured it out.

As you two busy building a small snowman and now you're finished making it's head and buttons using the pebbles. Another running footsteps crunching against the snowfield playground, as Sasha's young form appeared with carrots, bread and potatoes carrying on her arms. There was a muffin on her mouth.

"Hey guys! Hey (y/n)!"

"Yo, Sasha! Got the nose?" Connie pointed the missing part on the snowman.

"Yeah!" She shoved it to his hand. "I'll eat that later!"

"What is this, a steamed carrot?!"

"C'mon! I couldn't find anything uncooked!"

"Sasha, are you nuts?! We couldn't put this thing here if it's too soft." He grumbled and shoved it back to her.

Sasha pouts then put her hands on her hips. "At least, we could finish just one snowman this year, Connie-poo!"

"Haa? What did you say?!"

"Wouldn't you agree, (y/n)?" Sasha piped as you jumped on your skin and turned to look at the duo. You just shrugged, but nod slowly, returning to your task on the head.

Connie narrowed his eyes at you. "What does this have to do with her? She rarely say a word about it!"

The ponytail haired young girl snorted, glaring at Connie as if he spat something dirty. "Duh, you don't know? She's mute so don't blame her!"

Connie almost choked on his own cold saliva, and looked at you in disbelief. And you just looked at him in apologetic then turned into a sorrow. You are... mute? How come he didn't know this sooner? He's really a halfwit, alright.

Sasha shakes her head in disapproval, soon joining your work. "She's just new here so be a little nice to her, dummy."

"I didn't know she was mute alright." Connie muttered, guiltily looking down as he make a small boxes with snow. "I'm sorry, (y/n), if I didn't get to know of you better."

"Yeah. I wish your mom knew this then I get all of your cookies instead." Sasha scorn.

"Don't tell her! I just didn't know!"

Sasha just stuck out her tongue and you smiled, your chest bubbled with laughter as your eyes closed, trying to brush your eyes with your damp gloves. "It's okay." You wrote down to the dirt that almost covered with pile of snow.

Sasha and Connie looked at you. "Seriously?"

The girl slapped the boy from the head. "She accepted your apology, geez."

You nods then writes down again. "I just wanted to play with you. Sasha invited me though."

"You're friends of her too, right?" Connie asked.

You nod then he made a sound of understanding. You three continued what you were doing, with all those teasing and laughing, but mostly Connie and Sasha. You wouldn't stop adoring them two, as Connie wouldn't stop staring at you.

The winter season was full of fun for you, after gaining a bit trust and friends with Connie and his other gals. You figured that he have other friends from his school. Reiner, Bertolt and Annie would occasionally join your neighborhood, then Marco and Jean would come along. After Connie learned about your inability to speak, he became overprotective of you. He would translate some things for you and he would giddily learn all about the sign languages just for you. That, you thought it was kind of sweet.

But you and him were just childhood friends and that's all.

A year later, another winter season coming up and you were turning 8 while Connie is 10 so does Sasha too. In your birthday, you wanted to have a party, inviting all your friends and your parents were so happy for you to gain many friends. As a special, you wanted to spend some moment with Connie and Sasha again, alone in the same snowfield.

You were rolling huge snowball as Sasha made a burger-like snow, stacking them up like a Eiffel Tower. You were wondering about Connie's whereabouts, he was late. Sasha saw your confused look.

"Nah, don't' worry about him! He'll come, for sure."

You think for a couple of second before simply shrugging and return to your 'duty', enjoying the feeling of cold against your gloved hands. You were about to head on Sasha when you heard a loud boisterous yell behind you, and your smile quickly grew on your lips.

"Hey! Sorry I'm late!"

"Geez, Connie. You sure jetlag." Sasha snickers.

"Eh, what's that?"

"Oh this? My future dream restaurant!" Sasha showed him her structure made of snow.

"That doesn't looks like a restaurant." Then he turned to your silently laughing form, before he nervously cleared his throat, catching your attention.

He was hiding something else behind his back as he took a baby steps towards you. Then he rudely shoved it on your hands, you blink.

"H-happy birthday, by the way, (y/n). I couldn't think of a better gift but I hope you like it." He look elsewhere but your smiling face, hiding his tomato face.

You look down on your new gift coming from your bestfriend. You grin and bowed at him as a sign of thanking him, and he simply nods awkwardly. You were eagerly tearing the gift wrapper then an inaudible gasp escape from your pink lips. It was a cute (f/c) journal with a provided pen, a heart shapes decorated all over the handle.

You jumped in happiness and hugged Connie, startling the poor boy. "Whoa! Whoa! Easy! What's the matter?" He grabbed a hold of your arms but didn't pulled you away. He was enjoying your warmth and your sweet smell.

You quickly wrote down on your new journal, and shoved it to his face that almost made him back away. "Thank you Connie for this wonderful gift! <3 And for everything~"

"Wonderful?" Connie then giggled before ruffling your (h/c) hair. "Whatever you say. You're always welcome, (n/n)."
