Damien Samuel was a bad boy at the college of West Highland. Delia Shorts was a girl who looked like a nerd to everybody apart from Damien. He thought that she was fine the way she was. Even if she did wear glasses. That was because he had to wear glasses to read some writing on the board and on paper. He could see, but he couldn't read words on boards wherever he went. So, he didn't mind.
Damien saw Delia by her locker as she went to gather a couple of books for her first two lessons of the day and packed them into her bag ready.
Once the bell rang a minute later, everyone went to class. Damien followed Delia to their classroom and took their places. Even though Damien was a bad boy, he sat at the front next to Delia so he could be closer to the board. The male English teacher then spoke. "Good morning class. I'm Mister Right, and I'll be your English teacher." Everyone laughed. "Does that mean you get answers wrong?" a male student asked. The others laughed again. "Sometimes, but we all have to learn from our mistakes. Now, I trust you all had a great summer holiday. And I trust that in this new year, you will study hard." There were a few murmurs. "Now, here are the worksheets I'd like you to complete." Once the teacher handed out the worksheet, Damien was nervous about putting his glasses on in case everyone would laugh at him, even though he was a bad boy.
He pulled the glasses out of his bag and put them on so he could read what was on the paper. He sometimes felt that him wearing glasses made him vulnerable, but nobody judged him. He read the words and got into his work.
When everyone finished their worksheets, their teacher took their sheets and placed them on his desk and wrote on the whiteboard that everyone had to copy from and add the information into their books.
Once the class was over, Damien went to his next class, which was drama. He saw that Delia was also in his drama class. He sat on a chair and in the room, there was only once seat left, and that was next to him. She sighed and walked towards the seat. "May I?" She asked him. "Sure. It's the last seat in the room." She thanked him and sat down. "I saw that you need glasses too." "Yeah. I can't read from the board or on what's on the worksheets unless I wear them." "That's cute." "I look like you. A nerd." "I think you look adorable," she admitted. He shied away from her as their teacher began to speak.
"Good morning class, I'm Mrs Roberts and I'll be your drama teacher. I'd like you work in pairs today and I'd like you to act out a scene where an accident has occurred. One of you will survive and the other grieves over the driver as he or she was your best friend. I'll read out who will be paired with who." She then looked at the paper in her hand and read out the names. "And can I have Damien Samuel and Delia Shorts please."
They both stood up and sat on the chairs as Damien sat on the chair for the drivers seat and Delia next to him for the passengers seat.
"So we'll go and see our friends and I'll take you home, yeah?" "Yes please." Then they acted as though that they had crashed and lurched forward and Damien has his head right back on the chair. Delia shook him and told him to wake up. She then felt the pulse on his neck and said that he was gone and pretended to cry. The scene then ended.
"Wow to the both of you. And Delia, the expression on your face was exhilarating. Well done. You may take your seats." Once they sat on their chairs, they smiled at each other.
At the end of the lesson, Delia walked to her locker and put her books back and grabbed her history book as it was a double lesson, the same with Damien. He was about to walk by when Delia dropped some books and her bag on the floor. "Here, let me help." "I've got them." He picked them up for her and placed them carefully into her locker. "Thanks." "No worries." "I'll put them into order of my lessons now." "Do you need any help?" "Why are you talking to me?" She kindly asked, thinking he was up to something. "I'm talking to you because I want to talk to you. It's not a crime." He then saw her schedule on her locker.
"You're with me for every lesson for the year." "Really?" "Yeah. Look." She gazed upon his handsome face and shook her head to snap out of it before he noticed and looked at his schedule. "Well, I didn't see that coming. How good are you at history?" "Next to geography, that's my worst subject. Luckily we don't take it." "I like it, but I got put into history instead. I prefer history." He smiled at her. "You know, I kind of like you." "Aren't you supposed to be the bad boy of this place?" "Yes I am."
