Mister and Mrs Kingston checked on Damien an hour later and saw him twitch. "He's asleep," mister Kingston said quietly. "Yeah. I'll try and stop him twitching and I'll be back downstairs." He nodded and left the room while his wife sat on Damien's bed. "Shhh," she gently said. "You're just dreaming. You're safe." She took his hand and assured him she was with him. She was like a mother to him. She was a great neighbour and was someone that he and his father could go to and talk to at anytime.
After a few minutes, Damien was calm again. All he needed was some love from a mother, someone he never knew. "We'll be downstairs if you need us." She carefully stood up and left the room. After going down the stairs, Mrs Kingston entered the living room and sat on the sofa next to her husband. "How is he?" "He's peaceful now. All we have to do is wait."
Two hours passed and Damien had woken up to find himself alone in his room. "Thanks Jean. Jonah, I really appreciate this." "It's not a problem. You know we're here if you need help." Damien got out of bed and opened the door. "Dad?" He didn't feel dizzy anymore. "Dad?" he asked again. "Damien. How are you feeling?" "Better. Is it your lunch break?" "Yes son. I brought you something to eat. If you feel up to it tonight, I'll order us a takeaway." "That sounds nice." "Anyway, I've got to go back to work. I'll be home around five." "Did you ask him about the night shift?" "I did and I'm taking the night shift starting tomorrow." He then changed the subject. "What did you get for lunch?" "Ham salad sandwiches. Your favourite." "Thanks. I'll see you tonight." "Yeah. Take it easy." "I promise."
Jason and Delia were on their way to Damien's house after they left Jason's house to talk. "I wonder how Damien is," Delia wondered. "I'm sure he's feeling better. He'll be much better once he's seen us."
By the time Jason and Delia reached Damien's house, Jason knocked on the door and it was shortly answered by Damien. "Hey guys." "Hi," Delia kindly greeted. "Are you feeling better?" "I'm better than I was." "That's great news." She sat next to him on the sofa and held his hand. "You definitely feel better." "Yeah. Thanks by the way you two. For staying with me." "We'd do anything to help Damien. Never forget that."
Delia and Jason stayed with Damien until his father arrived which was late. "Hi Damien." "Hi dad." "How are you feeling now?" "Better." His father thanked his neighbours for being with Damien and they then left. "Did you have dinner?" "No. I wanted to wait for you." "Damien, you don't have to wait for me. I don't mind." They then had something to eat and went to bed.
Damien woke up with a start at quarter past three in the morning. His father suddenly woke up also. He got out of bed and walked to his sons room to find him getting out of bed. "Hey." "Hi dad. I just jolted awake, so I'm going downstairs to get some water." "Me too. I just thought I'd check on you." "Thanks." They both went downstairs and Damien sudden saw his mother in the kitchen. He smiled at her. "Hi sweetheart. Bad dream?" He shook his head. "I just jolted awake. I don't know why." "I also saw you faint earlier." "I'm fine." They then stopped talking as Damien's father entered the kitchen.
"Would you like some water?" "I'll get it dad." "Sit." He sat at the table and waited for his water. "Here we are son." "Thanks dad." He then began to drink the water. "What are you going to do tomorrow?" "I might visit Jason. He'll be needing me for a while until he feels better without his brother. Delia can come with me. We're good friends." "I'm glad you have some friends that you can see Damien. It's great to see you getting out of the house for a while." "Yeah." He then drank some more water and went back upstairs to bed as his father remained downstairs for a little while longer.
"Mum?" "Yes?" She gently asked. "You know about my bad boy side don't you?" "Yes." "Are you ashamed?" "No. Look. If it helps, then continue, but like your dad said, don't overdo it." "I know."
After a while, Damien's eyes grew heavy and his eyes were almost closed when his mother said, "Don't worry. You'll be with me soon."
