Hillary coming over was pretty normal. Dad never liked going to her house because it reeked of cat piss due to her letting them run loose in the house all the time. Ella and I think it's because she's been far too lonely for far too long. Dad met her at the library. It wasn't surprising. Even though her house is a wreck and smells horrible, she's a really clean lady. She's tall and skinny with long red curly hair and pale brown eyes. She was gorgeous and she smelled like french vanilla. But her cats. God her cats were crazy. It's almost unbelievable that she only has three. No matter. She was coming over and me and Ella were leaving.
I grabbed a notebook and a pen and began to text Shane.
Me: Meet me at Bluestone Park in an hour. We need to wor--
As I was heading out the door, I ran into someone and fell right ontop of them.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry I wasn't lo--"
"Hey Iris. Nice to see you too darling."
He rubbed his forehead jokingly and smiled that handsome smile that I loved. Even though he was laying on the ground in the middle of the snow, he was so gorgeous. The moment was getting awkward because I was still ontop of him and my phone was probably becoming damaged in the snow.
"Shane I'm so sorry. What are you doing here? I was just about to text you."
"I thought maybe I would surprise you and decide to work on our project here. We only have five days left to do it and we're halfway through."
"Right. Okay well, my dad's girlfriend is coming over and I honestly don't want to stay here."
"Okay where do you wanna go?"
"Anywhere else."
I grabbed my notebook from the ground as Shane picked up my phone.
"Wait here."
I ran inside into my dads room and was immediately caught off guard.
"Whose the man out front?"
"No worries dad that's just Shane."
"Who the fuck is Shane?"
My dad was practically a comedian. Whenever he didn't know someone, he asked who they were in the weirdest tone he could think of. It was hilarious.
"Shane's a friend of mine. We're working on a project for our college journalism class. I'll be back whenever."
"Irisette Victoria!"
"Yes, Daniel Patrick?"
He gave me a glare and I knew what he meant. I opened the door and led Shane in the house back to my dads room. After 20 minutes of waiting in the living room for my dad to get done with his "talking to", they finally came out of the room laughing like they were childhood friends.
"You be good to her Shane. That's a whole THIRD of my perfect kingdom."
"Dad stop it!"
My face was red and I could feel it. Ever since we were little and our mom passed, he's said that Ella and I were his whole world. We were two perfect little princesses and he was the king. If one of us were to get hurt, he would repair the kingdom the proper way. It was so sweet. But he would embarrass the hell out of me and Ella whenever he had the chance by using the kingdom thing to his advantage.
"No problem Mr. Pristine. I'll have her home when we get finished with the project."
"Please son, call me Dan."
