"Say, Lev?" (Y/N) says, breaking the comfortable silence on their walk to the bus stop. Lev hummed, letting her know she had his attention,
"What do you think about Kuroo?"

Lev thought for a second before responding,
"He's a great middle blocker!" He said decidedly, with a nod of his head.

"That's not what I mean," (Y/N) sighed,

"What did you mean?" Lev inquired, tilting his head to the left like a bemused cat.

"I mean..." a blush was growing on (Y/N)'s face, which the taller boy was oblivious to, "What's his personality like?"

Lev had to think longer for this question, he knew Kuroo but didn't exactly know how to describe him to someone,
"A good leader, I guess?"

(Y/N) let out another exasperated sigh, seeing she clearly wasn't going to get anywhere with Lev. And she couldn't ask the rest of the team because they'd tattle on her and ask to many questions. But they weren't the only ones,

"Why do you ask?" Lev questioned, raising an eyebrow. Shit, (Y/N) thought. She had assumed he'd have dropped the subject, just brushing it off. She was hesitant to answer but Lev was her best friend,

"I... Well... I kind of l...Like him," she managed.

Lev stopped dead in the middle of the street.

"Lev? Are you alright?" She walked up to the boy and shook him slightly; he took no notice.

There was something in his head telling him that this was wrong. She can't date Kuroo. It's not right. But there was nothing 'not right' about it. Except, she had never dated before or even had a crush, that he knew about. Was he jealous? No. What was there to be jealous of? They were just friends. Best friends. He had to protect her. But from what? Kuroo may be a bit sly but he wouldn't hurt (Y/N). Still something didn't sit right. Something in his gut? In his brain? In his heart? Was telling him that he needed to stop this.

"Lev! For God sake!" she shook him harder,

"No,"

"No, what, Lev? You're not making any sense,"

"You can't date Kuroo,"

"Why not?" (Y/N) was shocked, angry and a little hurt. What was Lev talking about? Did he not trust her?

"Because..." He struggled for a reason to give to her, "Because..."

"Never mind, I don't wanna hear it anyway," she huffed, "It's not your decision"
And with that, she turned around and abandoned Lev and the trip to the arcade along with him.

"Wait," Lev called, but (Y/N) was out of earshot and probably wouldn't have turned around even if she had heard him.

a/n poor (Y/N) and Lev :(
