She had enough.
She didn't know what was it that made her finally snapped, but she knew her mother was the cause of it all. She thought she could handle herself when the lords were fighting for her hand (or more like the thrown), but her acrimony thoughts took its toll.
Her eyes were wide with anger she never felt before when her mother threw her bow into the fire. She stared with wide eyes into the fire. It almost seemed like the fire was dancing in a taunting way, laughing at her.
Then, she screamed.
She thought she did enough damage with ripping up the tapestry. Now, she knew she didn't teach her mother enough.
She messed with the wrong woman.
She kicked her mother close enough to the fire. Her mother, being the one who didn't know how to fight, couldn't help but be defenseless in her raging daughter's grasp.
"Let this be a warning to you!" Merida screeched.
She dragged her mother closer to the fire, enough where her mother's hair has caught on fire. Her mother could feel her long locks burn and screamed in fear. She squirmed to let herself be free from Merida's strong grasp. When Merida thought it was close enough to her head, she let her mother go, dealing with the problem on her own. She then ran out of the palace and rode on her horse, Angus, out into the woods where she was never seen from her family again.
