You waited patiently on a log for the tea you were promised. You would be more relaxed if it weren't for the big dragon staring at you with wide-eye wonder. His eyes were slightly dilated to show the interest in you as he titled his head every once in a while. You would smile uneasily to show you were of no threat but also show slight discomfort from the new creatures surrounding you.
The said creatures came in all sizes, from a size of a bear to a size of a small dog. The dragons that were the size of a small dog surrounded you around your feet, sniffing you and would growl as well. You pulled back your feet in fear of being bitten around your ankles. You squeaked when the bigger dragon, who was staring at you earlier, roared and scared away the little ones. You could have sworn you jumped five feet in the air and out of your skin. The dragon looked back at you with kindness to show he was only trying to protect you.
You smiled warily again when you managed to slow down your heartbeat a little, knowing that he was growing a soft spot for you.
"Sorry for the wait," the woman, who introduced herself earlier to be Valka, walked in with matching cups on a wooden platter, "I don't usually get visitors."
"I understand," you nodded.
You took a sip from the offered cup. It was a bit bitter but you weren't going to say anything and be rude about it. You rest the cup down while looking over to Valka with politeness.
"Thank you for trusting my word back there," you mentioned.
"It was the first time someone unarmed themselves and give their weapon up so easily," she reasoned, and laughed when she added, "I honestly didn't know how to act."
"I wanted to show that I mean no harm and that I just needed to talk with you," you said.
She nodded understanding, "Although, forgive me for still being wary. Your clothing is something I'm not very familiar with."
"It's understandable considering how I'm not from around here," you answered back.
"If you're from some where far, I assume, what business might you have here?"
This was the moment you were waiting for when you came to this island. Usually, you would have a story already but with what the scripts gave you was too vague. You pulled the folded paper out from the inside of your top of your breast pocket and unfolded them. You offered the grouped paper to her as she stared at you with a questioning glance.
"The reason why I am here is written on here," you answered.
She gingerly took the paper out of your hands and began reading. You silently watched her, reading her expressions as she flipped the little amount of pages. Her eyes widen in surprise from the start but turned into a tearful gaze as they saddened when she was at the end. Her gaze flickered over to you.
"Where did you get this?"
You sighed, "I don't even know myself. In complete honesty, I wasn't even supposed to show you these." You gestured, "Because of how vague they are, I had no choice but to. Where they come from, I do not know, but I use them to help people, people like you."
Valka looked back down at the papers in her hands. She thumbed them quietly, almost lost in thought.
"What is stated in the paper, is it true?" you asked once you realized she hasn't have anything to say.
"Yes," she almost whispered.
"How long ago did this happened?" you continued.
"Twenty-two years ago," she hesitated.
Your eyes widen. When you worked on a case, the letter were never too late. The longest was a bit over a year. Why now and was it too late?
"These letters has a mentioning of regret from you. Can you tell me what that might be?"
She seemed even more hesitant than before. She handed the inscriptions back. "I'm afraid to admit that you are too late."
I knew it...
"Maybe it's not," you insisted, "if maybe you let me, we could—"
"There is nothing you can do," she interrupted you, "Only I can fix the mess I created. It's to make up the mistakes I made. Something I should have done decades ago. Now, I have to do something that I would have never dreamed."
"And that is?" you pushed.
She stayed silent for a moment. "You better go. You don't want certain people seeing you."
You furrowed your eyebrows at the sudden change in topic. "Who?"
She answered, "The dark rider."
The brunet stared smiling at his instructor as they introduce the arena at where and his selected team will be training. Currently they were in uniform so they can start their sparring against each other. He was against the stoned-face redhead whom he calls his ally in the mission in sabotage.
Hand-to-hand combat wasn't his strangest suit but he was still the strongest. He had to hold back so he could get the chance to talk to the female assassin.
They locked arms, forearm versus forearm and close to head butting.
"Are they set?" His smile still plastered as he asked.
"Yes," she confirmed.
"Good," he concluded. They went at it for a few minutes. With her throwing a few punches and kicks, he blocked them all with ease. With a final kick, he caught the swing and tripped her off her other foot. She landed on her rear with a grunt.
He crouched over with an offered hand and said, "Shall we begin Phase Two?"
She stared at his hand warily but ended up ignoring his false kindness. She got up on her own and didn't answer him while she walked away for a break.
Despite how she acted, his lips still turned into a smirk.
