Briar Rose continued her walk through the castle. She walked up stairways and through corridors, looked over balconies and admired architecture. After many hours of wandering aimlessly, she came upon a locked door. She had never seen it before, and she was curious.
"Hm, I wonder where this leads." She was about to touch the metal handle, but the door flung open of it's own accord.
"Well, thats odd." She drummed her fingers across her cheekbone, and then decided to walk inside. As soon as she walked into the corridor on the other side, it shut behind her.
"Well well well..." She tried to open it, but it wouldn't budge.
"I guess I should continue on then." She walked through the narrow hallway, one which was very different from the rest of the castle. She let her fingers trail along the cold walls. Eventually, she came to the end, where an open doorway led into a large room. In the middle of the room was the only spinning wheel in the entire land.
The princess was never told of the prophecy, for her family did not want to scare her. Because of this, she was not afraid of the spinning wheel.
She slowly walked toward it, curious about the lonely piece of furniture. Then, when she was a mere two yards from it, the wheel began to spin on it's own. The princess was mesmerized by the wheel, and she reached her hand out...
Zap!
The princess fell to the floor. Her hair was spread out under her head, her arms draped over her chest.
The evil witch appeared out of thin air, laughing ridiculously at the sight of the young, foolish girl.
"I should try being a maid more often, no? I look stunning in my apron," she laughed as she talked to someone she knew couldn't respond. Couldn't never respond.Like she had done before, her staff materialized. She looked up to the ceiling, and muttered a few words as it disappeared. Now it was just circular walls and a floor.
The witch looked up at the clouds above, and to heed her command, the clouds moved at a fast rate to create a thunder storm. Rain drizzled down on the unconscious princess, but the witch was covered by magic.
"I command thee," she screamed over the roaring storm, "that all in the castle should be cursed like this foolish girl. Let those in the other lands know never to doubt my warning. Let them all sleep!" She smashed her staff onto the floor, and the sky became an endless black. The rain stopped, but there was evidence it had existed in the flooded room. When she took her eyes away from the ceiling, it reappeared.
The top of her staff glowed a poison green. Evil was talking to her.
"Oh, don't worry my precious. I know you think I'm being rash, but so many men cannot ignore the opportunity to save the young princess." She wandered over to the girl, and pressed two fingers across her lips.
Her lips grew a dark hazel, and then the glow dissapeared.
"Any man who kiss the girl may parish as well as she. Of course I knew of this silly peophecy!" She cackled wickedly.
"No one will attempt to save her if it means he die aswell. Wby, she may already be in the grave!" She used another wand she pulled out of her cloak to make a bed of silk. She picked up the princess with her magical to place her on the sheets, her head resting on the soft pillows.
"Let the vines grow." She threw her hands up toward the sky, and spun around seventeen times. She didn't have to look, but she knew that unpenetrable vines were growing around the castle. No one would dare enter, this being another death threat.
Above the castle, the other twelve fairies had come together. They were not affected by their sisters spell.
"What are we to do?" The lemon fairy asked.
"There is not much we can do," started Burgundy, "but we might be able to save one of them. Of course, her parents will wish us to save her. We need an heir to the throne, after all." Mint gasped.
"What?"
"Peppermint," said Mauve, "we cannot save them both. Do you propose we save the lonely man instead of our beloved princess?" Wordlessly, Burgundy had already begun her spell.Heed us winds,
Heed us skies,
That you must realize,
Truths from lies,
Save the heart
Save the soul
Of that our kingdom
Rests on hold.
Don't let us fall,
Don't let us be conquered,
That one may live,
and the other call.
They would beg for mercy,
Beg for life,
But all we ask,
Is save that of the princess's might.
Let her live.
Let her breathe.
Or else we might all, be lost at sea.The diary drew her hand up, and thrusted her wand up. A hole of sun was visible through the black, but was diminished quickly.
"Did it work?" Whispered Lemon. They all shook their heads. They may never know.
