Sorry it's late ): Can you forgive me?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mike was intently listening to every word that spilled out his brother's mouth while looking at the notebook that was filled with facts about Kellin. He was absolutely shocked and memorized at the same time and Vic couldn't be happier to share his discovery with someone.
As Vic was about to explain his theory of the movement of the tail when he heard faint whimpering from the stairs. His attention was drawn to the noise and immediately thought of the inexperienced mermaid that was left in his room. Vic quickly got out of his seat from the couch and to the bottom of the steps where he saw Kellin hugging his legs by the railing at the top of the stairs and his head was in his knees, hiding his face.
"Kell?" Vic asked slowly, "what's wrong?"
Kellin looked up with teary eyes and a pouty bottom lip that was quivering slightly.
"K-Kellin got scared without Vic" he whispered.
Vic sighed in slight relief and stepped up the steps to the small body and wrapped his arms around it, giving a few kisses to his raven hair.
"It's alright" Vic soothed "I'm right here"
As Vic slowly rocked the mermaid back and forth, the rumbling of a stomach erupted, nearly startling the boy. Vic slightly chuckled and brushed the hair away from the mermaid's forehead.
"You hungry?" Vic asked, amused.
Kellin nodded slowly.
A thought crossed Vic's mind and he mentally hit himself for not being a better biologist.
"Kellin, what do you eat?" Vic questioned.
"Kellin eat clams, sea cucumbers, kelp, and sardines" Kellin explained, "Does Vic have those?"
Vic did not have those items. In fact, Vic was repulsed by the idea of even eating anything that came from the sea, of course, he wouldn't have any of that.
"Sorry, Kell" Vic shrugged "But maybe I could find something to make, how's that?"
Kellin nodded happily and clapped his hands excitedly.
"Kellin always wanted human foods!" he exclaimed.
Vic softly smiled and got up holding his hand out for Kellin to grab so he could pull the boy up. Vic thought that if Kellin was going to be on land then he might as well learn how to be human. The first step, of course, was walking.
It seemed that Kellin could already hobble his way around using support as the took one step at a time down the stairs, Vic was behind him; ready to pull him back if he fell. After safely going down the stairs, Vic guided Kellin to the kitchen and sat him on a stool at the breakfast bar.
"Alright..." Vic said to himself "We are going to avoid nuts, eggs, and wheat so...."
"Hello" he heard his brother greet "I'm Mike"
"H-Hi" he heard the mermaid stutter, mentally picturing a blush forming across his pale face.
"What's it like down there in the ocean? Can you take to fish? Oh, Oh! Do you have a friend that's a fish?" Mike asked excitedly.
Leave it to Mike to get up close and personal.
"Mike, don't overwhelm him" Vic scolded "Now help me fix him something to eat"
"Do you know what he even likes?" Mike asked.
"Yeah, seafood" Vic mumbled, cringing at the thought of it.
