Chapter 5 "What's up with you and that sass ?"

Laura's POV

"Do you think this is nice ?", I asked Emma while holding up a floral dress.

She eyed it critically before shaking her head, "Don't think so, Sweetheart.."

I rolled my eyes, "How come you don't like any of the things I show you ?"

"It's because you always pick the same kind of clothing. Pick something different.", she said with a grin.

I rolled my eyes playfully, "So Maia really cancelled ? She was the one who planned this..", I said while looking through the dresses.

"Yup. Rudy visited and you know how close they got since he moved away. Which is kind of weird, but you know..", Emma said before holding up a dark red dress. "How is this one ?"

I looked over to her before smiling and nodding, "It's beautiful, Emma."

"I know right ? I needed a dress for t- OH MY GOD", she squealed out of nowhere, making me jump.

"What ?!", I asked, recovering from the shock she put me in.

She than nod towards outside the store through the glass and I saw two boys walking by. I recognized both really quick. It were Dave and Ross.

I turned around and shook my head, "Oh no, Darling. You're not gonna...", I started before looking at her face expression.

"Emma..", I started.

"Laura, I at least need to try to talk to him. If he tells me that none of what we did in summer meant something to him, than I'm gonna leave it. I promise."

I looked at her and than glanced outside the store once again before sighing and nodding, "Alright."

We than went out of the store and I asked her, "So how are you gonna start the conversation ?"

"I'm not going to.", she said while pointing to a cafe next to the store the boys went into.

I furrowed my eyes while giving her a confused look. "So you want him to come and talk to you ?"

She nodded and as she started to make her way to the cafe. "I'm not the one who's been ignoring him for two complete weeks, Laura. I may feel attracted to him but that doesn't make me chase him."

I than felt a smile forming on my lips automatically. That's my best friend everyone.

"That's good.", I agreed before we sat down on a table.

After each of us ordered a coke, we waited.

"What could make boys take so long in a book store ?", I sighed while playing with the straw of my coke. I was sitting with my back to the store the boys went into, so it was Emma who had to pay attention to the boys.

"I do-", she stopped talking before looking at me. "Okay, they just came out. I'm just gonna make short eye contact with him before acting like I didn't see him.", she said before doing it and turning to me again and smiling and saying, "He looked over... Oh god, I think he's coming over.... Act like you tell me something Laura !"

"I...um, well.. do you think that the ending of season 5 of Teen Wolf was good ?", I asked her, having no real clue what I've just asked.

She looked at me, "Rea-"

"Hey."

She stopped talking and looked up to the person standing beside our table.

"Dave.", she said before even making eye contact with him.

"Do you, um, do you think we could talk ?", he said before looking over to me and adding, "Alone."

Emma looked at me hesitantly before saying, "Well, I don't wanna leave my friend alone in a cafe, you know."

He glanced at me before saying out of nowhere, "Don't worry. He can keep her company while we talk. Please."

Emma thought about it for a second before nodding and standing up. "Alright."

The both of them than got out of my sight and before I could even realize in what kind of shit I got myself into, I saw someone step a step closer to my table.

Oh how I would've wished that it was a waiter.

"Is that seat taken ?", he asked.

I slowly looked up to see Ross.

Do I like ever have luck in life ?!

I looked to the seat across from he that he was pointing to.

"Um, yeah."

I saw a look of confusion cross his face before he stated, "But no one's sitting there."

"Well, than I'm gonna have pretend that there is someone because the alternative would mean that you'll sit with me.", I said.

I looked up to see Ross shaking his head while a grin appeared on his face as he sat down across from me. "What's up with you and that sass ?"

"I could ask you the same thing about your arrogance.", I said while raising an eyebrow.

He looked at me for a second before saying, "Fair enough."

I continued to stay in eye contact, not letting him believe that that intimidation tactic works on me.

He than breathed a laugh out before speaking up again, "So, Laura."

"You got my name ?"

"Indeed.", he grinned.

I crossed my arms over my chest while leaning back. "Why ? It's not like you'll remember it next week anyway."

"Not so sure about that, Laura.",

I rolled my eyes and looked out of the glass wall of the cafe.

"Well...", he said while putting his arms on the table and leaning closer, "I guess patience isn't your greatest strength."

I looked at him annoyed for a second before putting my arms also on the table and leaning closer to him. "Trust me, patience goes to another level when I have to be with your kind."

He looked into my eyes before smirking and leaning back and putting a hand on his heart, "Ouch. That hurt right here."

I rolled my eyes once again before looking around, hoping that I'll see a sign of Dave and Emma.

Nowhere.

"You should loosen up more, you know ?", he said.

"What kind of honor to get that advice from a player.", I said sarcastically.

"You should seriously loosen up more. You're so uptight."

"You mean loosen up like the tons of girls you've dated ? No, thank you., I'll rather keep it low."

I saw amusement playing in his eyes as he said, "What's the fault of the girls I dated ?"

I felt a few seconds pass by before answering, "Probably their hope to see that you're a lot more than the rumors that go around in school. How stupid of them to think that they were the only flower in your garden, right ?"

I saw the amusement disappearing from his eyes as the words left my mouth.

I than stood up and put my jacket on and took my bag which said FOREVER 21 on it.

"Now if you excuse me, I gotta go.", I said before walking out of the cafe and meeting Emma and Dave outside. Dave went into the cafe to Ross meanwhile I went out of the mall with Emma while she told me everything.
