*Aiden's POV*

"You about ready?" Tucker asked, stepping into the room that had been given to me just weeks ago.

I didn't like the change from my place to this. The house was nice, don't get me wrong, but it just wasn't home. We weren't allowed to go back, either. At least, not yet.

Tucker said he needed to speak to the head of the council before we could return him. Though I made no efforts to rush him about it, he knew I was nearing the end of my rope.

"Almost. I do have a few questions, though. And they're not about my past."

"Okay, shoot."

Getting up from my chair and moving to the bed I had been sleeping on, I set my head down on the pillow then smiled as Tucker did the same.

"Well, the first one is: Why did the council send Shera?"

Sighing, he took in each word I said, contemplating his thoughts and answers carefully.

"I commited a great crime by changing you. The only time a vampire is allowed to change a human, is if their life is about to end. If they're not dying, it is considered as what humans think of as treason."

"So they aren't happy campers, are they?"

"Not at all."

"What's going to happen to you?"

There was a hint of fear in my voice, and I know he picked up on it too. Sliding closer to me, I his hand intertwine his fingers with mine, trying to reasure me it was okay.

I know it sounded weird, but I didn't want him to get into any trouble on my behalf. True he had ended my life and it was his fault all of this happened, but it just didn't seem right to me.

"Well, since this is my first offence, they sent Shera. Now that she is incapacitated, I have to go and plead my reasons to them. Best case scenario, I leave without a problem. Worst case, I get branded a heritic and hunted down till the end of my days, as well as any others I've turned to vampires"

I hated the way he said the last part, like it was the most casual thing in the world to have happen to you.

"Odds are though, I'll just get a slap on the wrist and sent on my way. What else do you want to know?"

"What exactly is Shera?"

He say there in silence for a while before finally speaking.His voice caught me off guard as it entered my ears. Pity flooded every word he spoke, along with a small amount of fear.

"Shera was the first to be branded a heritic. She changed a pregnant woman who bore her husbands unborn child. Over come with rage at finding out her lover had someone else, she lost control and changed her without her being close to death. When the council found out, she was hunted down, and eventually caught. The price for being a heritic is your fangs."

"So she was once a vampire?"

"Yes, Aiden, she was."

"But I don't understand, taking away her fangs should have killed her. I mean, she can't eat."

"When a vampire gets their fangs removed, it doesn't kill them, but it changes them forever. Without fresh blood, the mind can't think clearly, and since Shera could no longer drink from anything, her mind faded to insanity. If a vampire gets their fangs removed, they can no longer die, and stay dead without a still beating human heart placed into their chest."

"Wait, so when I punched that hole through her chest, that didn't kill her?"

I could hear the astonishment in my own voice. I remember the feeling of my fist penetrating her skin, the sickening sound it made as her body just became limp after my strike.
