The girl was back in her dreams tonight, as was the boy.
The Supreme Dictator was tired of these visions haunting her, if she were to be completely honest. Running a regime was far too taxing to be constantly worried about the threat of the two Earth-dwellers. If her visions were correct, and they never had been incorrect thus far, then they would soon try to end her regime. Most days, the Supreme Dictator shut out the visions, too concentrated on the day-to-day matters of her life.
Yet still, the visions lingered.
Tonight, as the Supreme Dictator drifted off to sleep, she could feel a vision coming, this one big and more likely than not from the present. It was like one sensing a storm coming just by going outside and feeling the pressure in the air that meant soon rain was going to fall. Just like she would ensure that all who opposed her did...
"Stop it! Let me go!" A black-haired girl shouted, her hair tangled as thought she had been thrashing violently. She appeared to be about fifteen. Two strong boys were holding her fast by the arms, about the same age. She struggled more, trying to propel herself forward and out of the arms of her captors. Other teenage boys their age melted out of the shadows, undoubtedly here for the same purpose. The girl fastened her gaze on the boy who appeared to be the ringleader, a tall, lean, muscular boy with a roguish smile, plenty of freckles, green eyes, and scruffy brown hair. For the briefest of moments, fear entered the girl's eyes, but it was quickly replaced with fierce anger as she momentarily stopped thrashing. "What do you want with me, Jonah?"
The ringleader, Jonah, smirked as the other boys formed a tightly knit circle around the girl. The girl was forced to her knees by her captors, but was still being held. Jonah cupped her chin in his hands. "Please, Mindilynn, what could I possibly want with you? And here I was thinking that our biggest challenge would be catching a girl on the track team." He shook his head, clucking his tongue. "It was so nice of you to join us, Mindilynn. I can't begin to tell you just how honored I am that you graced our presence. I wasn't expecting you to drop in, and like I said, especially so soon."
The view shifted in the Supreme Dictator's vision, going around a corner in the alleyway that led out to a smaller street. Two boys were crouched near the alleyway, clearly straining to hear and see what was going on without being caught. Both were pale in the lighting of a flickering streetlight that couldn't seem to decide whether or not to remain lit. The shorter boy, one with vaguely curly light brown hair, green eyes, and freckles, had his hands clenched into fists. As he started forward, the taller boy, one with darker hair and glasses masking his hazel eyes, gripped his arm, shaking his head tersely in warning.
Then the Supreme Dictator was suddenly back to the girl, Mindilynn, and the mob of boys. Jonah licked his lips. Mindilynn glared at him even fiercer, as though sensing what he wanted. "You know perfectly well that I didn't choose to come here, Jonah. Now let me go before you get into trouble."
Jonah snorted. "Trouble? Me? Please, Mindilynn, you know all too well that I don't get in trouble. Not at school, and not out here either. No one else knows we're here, which means if you don't cooperate it could take them days to find the body.
"Yeah, I know. But don't worry, I'm sure your friends will take your body to a hospital or something for you. After all, it wouldn't look very good if they ditched their leader." Mindilynn retorted, the fire in her gaze intensifying slightly. The Supreme Dictator could see the slightest hint of a smirk play out on the girl's lips; she found herself to be amusing in this most dangerous of situations.
Without warning, Jonah punched Mindilynn in the gut, hard. She gasped for breath and partially doubled over, being inhibited from the two boys holding her up, both of whom were stony-faced to the action that had been taken. The two boys around the corner both appeared to be in shock as the focus shifted over to them for the briefest of moments before returning to the action. The shorter one's jaw was hanging in surprise and the other's eyes were widened in horror. Jonah made as though to punch her again, and Mindilynn flinched. She frowned, her tough resolve quickly fading. The girl had finally recognized what danger she was in.
