Still Holding On

Chapter Four

I wake up in my bed and turn to see Ric watching me sleep. That's not creepy. "Rose... what's wrong? Why have you been crying and throwing up so much?" Ric asks and I sigh. It's been three days and I've been throwing up nonstop. Lillian doesn't help either... Alek hasn't talked to me since I told him the truth about her. I'm scared that he won't. I know it's selfish to want him to save me but I kind of want to be saved. I miss our life. On the other hand I'd rather stay here than let him die trying to save me. 

Ric looks to me expectantly and I sigh. It's time for the lies to begin. "I'm pregnant." I whisper and he smiles happily. I never thought he'd be so happy to hear that. "Come on! We have to go see Luca! Come!" He orders and rushes me to get dressed in a pair of sweatpants with a sweater before yanking me down to Luca's office. Come to think of it the guys have been avoiding me too. "Rose, Ric. What can I do for you two?" Luca asks smiling and I smile sadly at him. "Rose is pregnant. Can you do a sonogram thingy?" He asks and Luca looks to me shocked. "Yeah, sure." He says and sets his table up so I can sit properly. 

Ric helps me on the table and Luca wheels a machine out from his closet of technology. He gets a tube with jelly in it and plugs in the machine before walking over to me. "Alright, Rose, now this is gonna be a bit cold." Luca warns as he lifts my shirt just enough to show my belly. He squeezes the jelly onto my belly and I flinch. He rubs the wand over my tummy and I giggle. That tickles. "See that?" Luca asks me as he points to a small dot on the screen and I nod. "That's your baby." He whispers and I smile happily. That's my baby. "How far along is she?" Ric asks and Luca remains calm. Please don't tell him the truth. "It's only been a few days. But she needs to eat more. Rose is very weak, Ric. She doesn't eat enough and the baby doesn't get enough." Luca sighs and Ric nods. "How many meals does she need to eat a day?" Ric asks and Luca looks over at him. "Five. Maybe six if she doesn't start eating more." Luca answers and I sigh but nod my head. I have to eat more. I have to do it for my baby. Alek's baby. "I'll go see Lucinda when we're done here." Ric tells him and Luca nods. "Alright, Rose." He sighs and turns off the machine.

I watch as he pushes the machine back and I put my shirt down. "How is your nausea?" He asks and I shrug. "It only really effects me every once in a while. I think it's stress though. Because you told me I only ever threw up when Lillian came around or something very stressful was happening. So I'm trying to remain stress free." I explain and Ric sighs as he plays with my hair. "I'll tell Lillian to stay away from you then." Ric says and I nod as Luca writes this down. "Now then. I want you to take these. These pills will help you gain weight for the baby. Just one a day and if you require a higher dosage then I'll take care of it. Okay?" Luca says and hands me a bottle of pills. 

I gently take them and nod in response to him. "So this baby is mine?" Ric asks and Luca nods. "Yes... Who else's would it be? She's only ever been with you correct?" Luca asks and I nod as Ric says yes. "Then it's yours. Unless she went to a doctor to have sperm injected into her egg which I doubt she could've done." Luca laughs and Ric nods as he hugs me tightly. "Can we have sex?" Ric asks him when he pulls away and my eyes widen. Oh my God! "No. I wouldn't suggest it. As of right now, Rose has a lot to deal with. Her hip still has stitches and having sex with you while she has that and the baby in her stomach will stress her out as it is. Not to mention with the war you have activated with Alek Bytchnovik. Let's just say that stress is going to be what kills the baby if anything does. So please, relax Rose. For the sake of your baby." Luca pleads and Ric looks to me worriedly. "Alright, I'll keep her out of everything." Ric sighs and kisses my temple. 

I look to him shocked and shake my head no. I have to help Alek! "What?! No, I wanna help!" I argue and he sighs. "Rose, I've made my decision that's final." Ric snaps and I shut my mouth. I don't think he'll hit me while I'm pregnant but you never know with him. "Yes sir." I whisper and he sighs. "I have to go out for now. Luca will you make sure she eats?" He asks and Luca nods. Ric kisses my temple and I close my eyes in annoyance. Why is he still touching me? He hasn't been so affectionate since we were fifteen! He's driving me insane! I can't exactly go ballistic on him either because if I do then he'll 'punish' me again.
