Jay had protected Carlos since they were little from everyone that he could protect him from, and now that they were Auridon Prep Jay could even protect Carlos from his mother. Jay looked across the bedroom and saw Carlos looking out the window and messing with his short blond hair. "Can't sleep?" Jay asked from his bed not used to being this far away from Carlos and saw the blond shake his head softly, the bigger man got up and pushed his bed right up to Carlos' bed with a small smile on his face as he got back in and looked into Carlos' eyes and laughed softly as he pulled him into a hug and held him happily. "It's okay I got ya." He said and rubbed Carlos' back trying to comfort him.
"Why does it smell so clean here?" Carlos asked and put his head in the crook of Jay's shoulder which was the comfiest place next to his chest to put your head on. At least Jay's smell didn't change any, it was enough to make him feel like home but not so much it reminded him of his actual home. The blond wrapped his arm across Jay's chest and yawned softly finally feeling sleepy and enjoyed the feeling of Jay running his fingers through his hair.
"I don't know, but I promise I'll stay stinky for you." Jay said jokingly and closed his eyes after a while, they ended up covering themselves in both their blankets because it was a lot colder than they were used to on the island. Jay of course was the first one to wake up as per usual, he always woke up earlier than Carlos, mostly it was just to watch him sleep but sometimes he made breakfast, this morning would be a breakfast morning because he wanted Carlos to eat something that wasn't pure sugar considering that's all he's had in the past 24 hours and a bit of an apple.
Carlos woke up to the smell of freshly cooked waffles. He got up smiling and walked to the little table they had and began eating it, shoveling it down before Jay reminded him that his mom wouldn't catch him and he slowed down his pace and ate the fruit that Jay found in the mini-fridge. "This is really good." He said honestly and ate the whole waffle even though he was full with just half of it because his appetite was usually miniscule. He would be lucky to get this much food in a whole day over in the isle and forgot that he had more than enough food here. "You gonna eat?" He asked and looked up at Jay and he nodded while he waited by a strange metal box. "What's that?"
"I dunno, but it makes frozen things warm. I believe the back of the box for the waffles said it was um... a toaster??" Jay said trying to remember what it was called and caught his waffle as it came out and put it on the plate and ate it happily, not knowing that people usually put butter and syrup on it even though it tasted fine without it. Jay smiled at how messy Carlos' face was and rolled his eyes laughing. "Go check yourself in a mirror dude." He said and shook his head slightly and Carlos excused himself and went to the bathroom to get ready for the school. Jay pretended not to stare when Carlos was changing in front of him but his eyes couldn't look away and he shook his head when he saw the all too familiar bruises on Carlos' back and sides. Jay got up and got ready and changed comfortably in front of Carlos and put his beanie on his wet hair with a big smile on his face and he walked over to the blond and wrapped an arm around his shoulder. "So you know that dating thing Ben was talking about yesterday?" Jay said and looked down at Carlos and smiled nervously.
"Yeah what about it?" Carlos asked and looked at Jay innocently and naively and held Jay's hand and smiled at him from ear to ear. The blonde took Jay's beanie and put it on himself with a small smirk and the adorable giggle Jay worked so hard to hear everyday. Jay smiled at Carlos and lost any bit of nervousness he had before and completely relaxed when he saw Carlos' smile.
"I was thinking maybe we could do that together, date?" Jay said as they walked down the corridor with his arm wrapped around Carlos' shoulder and Carlos nodded as he shyly kissed Jay's hand and had a light pink blush across his face. "Sweet, I have the cutest boyfriend on campus." Jay said grinning ear to ear.
